THE INVISIBLE HOOK
It's pure steel and iceand as cold as your heart I can touch it daily although we're miles apart . The invisible hook -
it's the one I eschew - but
it's pierced through my heart
and locked into you.
Forgive my frustration
my saddness and shame
it's the addiction to destruction
that takes me down again.
The Buddists knew best
of the pain we all keep -
the ones we drag with us
that drug us to sleep.
There's no absolution
from a tear-filled life -
there's no seeking pardon
by plunging the knife... BjR October 7, '09
