Wilderness Period Poem
There is as much love in me
As water in the ocean
But my heart is clothed in ice
Your touch cannot thaw it
But a breath from you may stir a flame
A dream of you may briefly
Teach it to be young again
Yet when I wake I remember
That you are gone
And I forget my heart
We may as well be parted
By an ocean
But the ocean is love
Now violent, now calm
Never sleeping. . .
As water in the ocean
But my heart is clothed in ice
Your touch cannot thaw it
But a breath from you may stir a flame
A dream of you may briefly
Teach it to be young again
Yet when I wake I remember
That you are gone
And I forget my heart
We may as well be parted
By an ocean
But the ocean is love
Now violent, now calm
Never sleeping. . .
