Hostage

Hostage to a neighboring chatter
Catching up with what's the matter
First one subject, then just that
Different head, same old hat
Stilted speech, knowing glances
Torrid tales of lost romances
Nipping, gnawing bone and lip
Money spent without the trip
Finally silence at table's height
As palates dance with taste’s delight
