The art of slow

You are master of the inadvertant touch
Of seemingly unintended placement
Of slow building, slow cooking, slow burning
Sensuality
You are the Raj of the casual connection
Your silk skinned tenderness tossed rakishly my way
Then lingering
The flow you build
To wild rivers of intensity
Directed by a single well timed brush of fingertip
Or wrist
Your long, long limbs abundant, willowy and ever entwining
The catch of breath
An invitation
To continue
Amiable, “accidental”, conjunctures
And rivulets to rivers,
Wilder flooding lakes
Swelling into ocean thrashing indigo depth

I love
       your
  so
     slow
         fingers
The skirting
And the bridging
The sweeping arcs
                                      that
                                      contemplate
                                                           their
                                                                 own
                                                                    point

                                                                            of

                                                                    ……..

                                                           contact
                    (in breathless anticipation)
                           …….Yes, slowly
And……… yes, deftly
The subtle pressing urgency that holds itself at bay
Knowing it will meet a brighter bloom, with some delay
A deeper memory
A molten lava canyon river flowing orange bright
(where some would settle still for being washed up on some rocks!)
You
You sail your obsidian
Beyond the heated mounds of restless budding lust
Take your time to crest the reaches of a worthy man
To meet, in time, the now smouldering eyes
Of a worthy woman

In this slow intensity
Where no-one else could breathe
My gentle scientist, you breathe fire into me

You have gone and done it this time... you made me spill my coffee down my front, lol! I love this, it fairly smolders once it gets going from its unassuming gentle start. Then I love the way it meanders, such cunning structure. Just one small thing. In this line: "The catch of breathe" I think it should be "breath" My favorite lines are: …….Yes, slowly And……… yes, deftly The subtle pressing urgency that holds itself at bay Knowing it will meet a brighter Field of play A deeper memory A molten lava canyon Always, Cat

No matter...

how you put it down, it works. The sensuality just oozes through and I feel like a voyeur. LOL Quite a trip down 'Libido Road' The presentation is okay, but may detract from it for some. Awesome job! ~ Gee

Funny, I wrote this in response to a comment this morning where

Hi Gee, you are a sweet thing (not as sweet as my long limbed science man of course, but you know that is as it should be). Funny, I wrote this in response to a comment this morning where there was a typo & I made a joke about not minding slow thinking, it makes you savour the process more like slow cooking & slow love making (I was going to say slow fucking, but I don't know that Americans are generally as comfortable with straight talk swearing, I'm guessing you could take it in the light it's intended) So I went off & wrote this, about time I sent my man a more direct set of words anyway, we had holidays entwined & now it will be a longer time apart than usual, a week & a half pushes it these days... sigh! Mmmm I love my libido, it usually behaves so well, rarely bothering me unless I have a love (some of the loves it has got excited by have more to be desired I am afraid to confess.. ah but it's late & I am in spill mode, forgive me). Take care Gee, hope you are over your health thing. xx Cheers Anni~ "When we feel love and kindness toward others, it not only makes others feel loved and cared for, but it helps us also to develop inner happiness and peace". I like

the arch, I am a fan of lots of line breaks to slow a reader down and add impact to certain words, I would have liked to found one or two more concrete examples of what makes him so special but they may move away from physical nature of your write. just a thought. ken

takes a man of wonderful skill & presence to actually make such

Hi Ken, thanks for responding to my question, I expect it will effect different people in different way... I loved what you said about the slowing down of reading... that is exactly part of the point I am making here, slow is sometimes so much more exquisite... of course you must be engaged for it to be that way. Ta also for the thought, I will ponder but I feel it would detract from the focus & intensity, I was hoping that underlying the words the clear message that it takes a man of wonderful skill & presence to actually make such elongated pleasure so intense & yet seem almost unmeditated & serendipitous, sometimes accidental, so I had hoped the poem might say more about him than the actual words utter. Actually during the writing moments I contemplated a second work exploring the juxtaposition between the general expectations of scientist, geeks & sensuality & that to look at him (unless you were good at drawing out) one would not expect the exceptionality & sensitivity I found. Perhaps I will do a sibling to this write? ...Then I have written other elements of his being in many a poem so it's there if you look, just don't mistake him for the other players that tend to haunt my poetic expressions there are many & varied, I never wanted to live a small life when I look back at it, not that my intention was to live big, I just have... lived 'much' perhaps. You seem to have made a big impact here already, I am glad you have settled right down to the heart of it, it's a pleasure to have you here. Cheers Anni~ "When we feel love and kindness toward others, it not only makes others feel loved and cared for, but it helps us also to develop inner happiness and peace". H.H. the Dalai Lama

those kind of writes are often hard to get perspective on for me

Hi Lyz, thank you, you are so generous with your comments here, & I have hardly made time to look at your work, I'm sorry about that, I am trying to keep up, but will be away again for a while. Anyway, glad you thought it worked, those kind of writes are often hard to get perspective on for me. Ta for your feedback, take care Aussie girl. Hiya Steven great to see you, & thank you. I'm really glad it reached you this one, it's hardly a shadow on your amazing skill, still, I'm always the first to say we should make no comparison, it's what a work provokes in us, I know. I hope you are taking good care of yourself, I often feel like you are a distant brother you know (hope that's not presumptuous), do want you to be well & thriving. Hope I get to catch up on your latest soon, but it's 3 45am now, I was a little wired from recording, now I am winding down, but it's always so lovely to hear from you. Take care & cheers xx Anni~ "When we feel love and kindness toward others, it not only makes others feel loved and cared for, but it helps us also to develop inner happiness and peace". Truly this is a write from a

Truly this is a write from a woman who has been touched by the slow hand of an exquisite lover. I loved the placement of words, almost like a pregnant belly - how utterly feminine to round that curve in slow motion. You beautifully begin this dance, slowly building to the crescendo. Extremely appealing and very sexy.

That is the sweetest picture. I am so glad you enjoyed this... I had a chuckle about the pregnant belly thing, had not occured to me, I had the sweep of a a long armed caress in mind (one must take care though in such amorous circumstances huh, or such a belly may ensue)... Take care oh tendrilled one. Cheers Anni~ "When we feel love and kindness toward others, it not only makes others feel loved and cared for, but it helps us also to develop inner happiness and peace". You have given us the whole ocean, Anni.

Dearest Anni, "Swelling into ocean thrashing indigo depth":- Oh you haven't written a poem you have given us the whole ocean as it washes over us in its intensity of colour, Indigo, oh indigo, that magic colour used from ancient times as a die, its subtle shade a wonder, its mood so deep, so dark and yet not mysterious, just wonderful. "A molten lava canyon river flowing orange bright" A fine contrast to the indigo a dazzlingly lovely contrast. "You sail your obsidian" that pitch black of volcanic rock shining sharply striating through the jade of Mayan Chieftain's jewellery, and the beaded threads of your message take shape again and again as the tides of love ebb and flow in a succession of feelings and powerful movements. Oh blimey this is an ocean of a poem Anni, we drown in it ere we reach the end. Great stuff here, I will sail that ocean, but am far away up at the top end of a Fjord, and look long to sea the sea. Love dear happy Anni from Anushka. And good wishes to the instigator of this emotional ocean of words.

I wish it for you too dear one, I don't believe we are ever too

Beautiful Anushka, you lovely bright star who shone always right from the start when I arrived on Neo & fell in love with you my dear good friend. I am lucky finally to find such a beautiful, long limbed & attentive man with a heart of gold (not to mention a brilliant mind), who loves being loved by me, so I am blessed dear Anushka, in so many ways, but your wonderful sentiments are as precious as can be. I'm glad you found so much in this, I wish it for you too dear one, I don't believe we are ever too old to crave sensuality & you are such a woman of the senses, it is in everything you write. Much love & warmth xx Cheers Anni~ "When we feel love and kindness toward others, it not only makes others feel loved and cared for, but it helps us also to develop inner happiness and peace". A sigh is a good thing, slow exhalation can rebalance your brai

Well beautiful Anna, it's been a long wait to find a true heart with the "slow hand" (chuckle)... A sigh is a good thing, slow exhalation can rebalance your brain chemistry for the better, that's why chanting can feel so euphoric... So sigh away woman, I'll be sighing with you for lots of different reasons (I haven't seen my man for a week & a half... sigh!!!) & other less flippant reasons, some of which are inspired by your wonderful skill Anna, see I just sighed! You inspire me so much you know, wonderful, wonderful, I need more time (am cramming for several major projects wedding singing with a brilliant new pianist (used to be my music course lecturer!), writing & recording for the practice CDs to teach my choir for our impending CD, & several performances at the Gorgeous Voices festival, it's delicious stuff, but leaves little time for Neo...sigh...again) I have always tried to squeeze so much into this little life. But I am always so pleased to find anything you have written. Take care amazing woman. xx Cheers Anni~ "When we feel love and kindness toward others, it not only makes others feel loved and cared for, but it helps us also to develop inner happiness and peace". Every rolling tumbleweed...

Your works Anni are never desolate but with this you deluge the entire page everso slowly with breath taking descriptives and sensual wording that slowly starts as a twinkling star until it is a full blown midday desert sun... seriously volcanic flow and magma warming words that seek and settle upon the skin of the bodya nd are absorbed within, seeking solace in the soul, like a solar panal it soaks up the glorious words and emotions to forever warm the heart. Passionate vibes just emanate from this page and vibrantly cadense in a congo line and arc ever building to great crescendo... Brilliantly engineered piece that has so many metaphors hidden within but within us all we can feel you. Excellent piece indeed! Dale :)

thank you for always seeing beyond the surface

Hi Dale... God, you write the most beautiful crits... more sighing necessary here I think... thank you for always seeing beyond the surface, I love you for that. I admit I am spoilt (though I have done my time I can assure you) & I never take it for granted.. I wonder sometimes if my descison to write life into being actually worked, for a couple of years I wrote songs (before finding Neo, I mainly wrote songs) about the man I desired (someone like this with sensitivity, brain, spirituality, sensibility etc. etc), maybe it paid off, I often think we get what we put out in our language to a great extent. Quietly I think it takes one to recognise one my friend, I bet if you had a poet lover they would write this piece off the page! Take care... I am trying to keep up, but it rediculous hour so I will finish here & try to find some time tomorrow to see what you have been writing, I can't wait actually. Yeah, they knew how to sing a man into being too didn't they. Yum! His area is agricultural actually, he did some great work in Guatemala, some really beautiful community projects (I am so proud of him... more sighing), currently he is over here researching projects around the effects of global warming & CO2 increases on various food crops. Maybe his magic is added to by his connection with the earth.
