I WILL LET YOU FALL

           "I will let you fall

as if in slow motion -

tumbling and turning through

tumultuous clouds

 of emotion

from the edge of reason -

descending slowly, deeper,

into passion’s possessive

grip -
                    I will let you slip

            I will save you

as if by Grace -

ordained by Venus

before she knew

 time or place.

As none before

expansive, enlightened

piercing the carapace

of your hardened core -

             I  will love you

             I will feed your  soul

    from the bounty  of excess

filling your mind - bathing your body

 with the softest caress.

Alas! Again and again

  my longing  I must subjugate

lest my heart and soul I alienate...

Perhaps someday
the pleasures of  loving you will subside

For now Fate has writ ... it must  be denied.

More than sunlight shines,

or  the moon’s reflection

  memories magnify -

             I shall miss you.

Boni J!

For me, this speaks to the very soul of the an unappreciated and futile love. Poignantly melancholy to be sure, but I liked this work very much. I am envious of the eloquence of the last stanza. Very well turned! Strong write!!! Best Mike

Dear K!

Your abilities as a critic almost outweigh those as a poet! Obviously the latter will prevail! but in truth - I am staggered, both at the revelations of your perceptive powers and the sheer amount of time you have dedicated to this poem! Thank you so much for that! In the poem - the first three stanzas speak of THE PROMISE, The last three of THE REALITY... Bonita j

Boni,

I couldn't have said it any better than Kaligantsaros did. This poem has layers of meaning, a hallmark treat of an outstanding write! I particularly enjoyed tumultuous clouds of emotion from the edge of reason - and piercing the carapace of your hardened core - Yours, ~Nina
