FALLACY OF THOUGHT

FALLACY OF THOUGHT The earth was once thought to be flatMy grandpa never wandered far awayLest he tumbled at the edge and fallSo it was with the rising and setting sunAfter a daily heavenly crossing at noonMen also thought the earth was fixedAnd everything else revolved around itThey were wrong, we know better now Fallacy of thought is the seed of superstitionLike a Friday which falls on a thirteenthA black cat crossing our path to bring ill luckMan-made creeds direct and try to controlWith apprehension of fire and brimstoneTo those who did not conform to its doctrinesSuperstition grows out of erroneous thinkingAnd grips men with fear and limits their abilities Reflect on the mistakes we have made so farAs a consequence of the error in thinkingCall it a condition of real mental slaveryFor no one is actually free from false notionTeach man to think, to realize his link with GodTo strive towards the use of his potentialsNot the clash of ideologies and false beliefsThat confine man to fear the unknown

Hello Jayne

Thank you for the correction, I meant 'wandered'. I have the 'wondered' undone. The very idea that error in thinking leads to superstition made me to wonder if there was anybody who is free from this trap no matter how educated that person is. We may look down on people in the past, like those who thought the world was flat and that the earth was the center of the universe. Today, some see man as the center, or the purpose for which the world was made. The future generations may think otherwise and so push this form of reasoning as superstitious. Superstition and fear are two obstacles that limit man from making meaning progress. Outside the theme, what comments can you make in areas of diction, form and style? Your opinion and advice will help me a great deal as you seem to have interest in my scribbles. You may need to read my other works to get a full picture of where I need improvement. With this in mind, I can call you my friend, or shouldn't I? . Well done and best wishes. T. xxx

Dear Lyz

Thank you for the comments and for sparing the time to read my scribbles. I wrote this when I realised that nobody if free from 'error in thinking' and therefore, everybody has, in one way or the other, a modicum of superstition, so to speak. Best wishes. T.
