The Preacher's Son

The preacher’s son I’ll tell you a story about a boy,Who grew up to be a man,Carried a burden that weighted close to a ton,Because he was the preacher’s son I apologize, but I’ve started wrong,And now you’re all misinformed,You see this poem isn’t a happy one,The preacher’s son gets harmed in this poem. My dear father abused his wife,I witnessed this several timesIn his defense she cheated on him,But abusiveness is still a crime Oh the pain, the agony,Damn this fucking divorce! For 18 years now I can’t figure out,Why my Dad still has no remorse Both of them walk through life naive,They know not what they’ve doneA life filled with pain and miseryIs the life of the Preacher’s Son!

hello

I like the title, the pacing is good, the language usage is good, as is the logic. I think it needs a little polishing. It is a very good start. A way to know if a poem is flowing smoothly is to read it out loud and see if your tongue trips over anything. Nice to meet you! My favorite lines are: Both of them walk through life naive, They know not what they’ve done A life filled with pain and agony This is the life of the Preacher’s Son Always, Cat

Marichi7:

Great poem! Although the presentation is not perfect, the feelings are vivid, the words get to the point, a well written poem-story, filled with the sadness of a broken, wiser heart. Keep up the good work, my friend. You've come the write place! Welcome! Sincerely, Hugo
