An Old Pair of Shoes

There is one

with whom I share my life

my joys

my sorrows

and kinky sex

with whom I share

all the tomorrows

yesterday’s memories

my bed

and bubble gum.

He speaks my mind

before words form on my lips

I look into his eyes and see myself

a comfortable match

like an old pair of shoes.

Fate meant to bind us

our tryst fulfilled

rendevous complete.

Death has lost it power to part

for we are one.

Shoes...

I am not sure if I have commented on anything you have written before but I couldn't let this one get by. I love the down-to-earth way you describe your relationship with your hubby. Your use of language and flow were very good. The title caught my eye and I just had to read what was so interesting about an ole pair of shoes? Simple but very heart-felt. Great job! ~ Geezer

Hi Richard

Thanks for the vote of confidence. I told Steve Hi from you. He liked the poem, didn't seem to off put by being compared to a shoe. Great to hear from you. Deelilah

Hi Dee, how gorgeous to see you back here writing again, I have been trying to catch up & missed you... Hope things are good. I love this, a simple ode to your coupling so clear & plain it says it all, refreshing in it's way, & so lovely to know about. Makes me want to sigh... sigh! Some lovely imagery about taking words from you mouth & the comfy fit... Kate Bush has a great song where she goes on (in her quirky way) about every old sock has an old shoe... & you should look up The Be Good Tanya's, I reckon you'd love them, there is a song of theres about old shoes I love, but I forget it's name. Tke care deeeelightful girl Cheers Anni~ "When we feel love and kindness toward others, it not only makes others feel loved and cared for, but it helps us also to develop inner happiness and peace". Hello Cloudthings

So sorry, I thought I answered this. I know I did, I remember talking about the Be Good Tanya's. Sometimes my wireless laptop drops a signal while we're bouncing down the road---and I think that must have happened. Anyway, thanks for the kind words. The poem was one of the easier ones to write. I'll have to try more of that tribute to my hubby type of stuff. I am very fortunate in this one thing. It did take three times around to find the mate to that shoe, though. Love hearing from you. My wish for you is that this is a place you find very soon. It makes me sad when you are sad. How are you doing of late? I haven't talked to you for a while. I will go check up on your writing. I can always tell from that. Yours, Dee
