Dust till Dawn

'Apocalypse'
was mentioned
in talk today,
the weather has flown us
to total dismay

As the sun come up
it was red as blood,
at mid morn blue
like water that floods

And finally white
its shade had become,
and the ring around
was orange and plum

Dust from the outback
rolling in waves,
hit us with force
and nothing is saved

I went out Walking
dirt filled my mouth,
tasting of sand
tongue dry as drought

A swirling of Eddy's
outside the door,
as nature's revealing
my mouth fills in awe

Climbing through cracks
that didn't exist,
this storm from hell
tried to blow us to bits

In glimmers of light
that dapple the floors,
the air is full
as wind gusts the doors

Of all the sights
I've seen in my life
nothing compares
to a gravel worn night

A sheet of tin
is flapping like hands,
creating a whirl
in brown and white sand

I'm sitting and watching
the world outside,
and I pray that nature
lets her anger subside

Dear Barry

It really is a historical event the last time we had a dust storm of this magnitude it was 1967 I think they said ... honestly I have never seen anything nothing like it in my lifetime and I have seen big dust storms in the outback but nothing like this ...at dawn it look like we were surrounded in fire the sky was bright red .. and then the sky was brown and white and black and blue it went all the colours through the day as the light changed it was a surreal kinda day you walked outside you had to hold something over your mouth it just filled with dust ... the whole place looked like volcanic ash had fallen out of the sky everything was white and brown we are near a river lots of sand come up ... it was the weirdest thing I have ever seen in my life thanks for the comment and concern higgest bugs and love Jayne x x Edit:-- forgot to mention they think we might get hit with another one tomorrow the drought is making the place so dry we get a wind storm it turns to big dust bowls you should have seen the dust cloud roaring in it looked like a movie ... awed me to be honest

Dearest Jayne

***** This would have both thrilled me and scared the crap out of me. Mother Nature sure can raise the roof when she is angry. With what man has done to her, I can sure understand her fury. I hope tomorrow brings calm. Awesome write. Very descriptive. Love, cat

This really was one of the most bizarre days I have ever seen in my life it was crazy and they are saying on the news we might get another one tomorrow I hope not ... Nature was certainly making herself known yesterday .. it was wild to watch and even wilder to live through ... and sooo many poor people with asthma and lung problems got sick yesterday and got rushed to hospital ... Take care darlin I am hoping your feeling better real soon ... love and higgest bugs Jayne x x x

Saw it...

Saw it on T.V. They said, I believe...Worst in around seventy years. I can hardly imagine what it must be like. I fear that the whole world is going to feel the fury of Ole Ma. Our own dust bowl is only around seventy years old. It must have been something to see, your storm, but would not like the personal experience. Especially since I have COPD. Hope you do not get another. One time is enough I'm sure. Loving your rhymes, and visuals. [ A sheet of tin, is flapping like hands, creating a whirl, in brown and white sands.] Can picture it. Great work! Bugging Higz. ~ Gee

Dear Gee

It was scary, I cannot imagine what tomorrows going to be like its already getting windy here again and thats not a good sign for tomorrow the wind is gusting getting stronger as the night passes, I spent most of the day in bed today it knocked me round as well the air quality index said that the air was 1500 times more lethal than normal yeaterday not a good thing for people like you Gee ... just giving you an idea what its like ... thousands of people where hospitalised yesterday with respiratory illness's astham etc ... thanks for the read and the comment my friend I wasnt going to write it but it was something we may never see again though the way they are talking its going to happen again in my lifetime ... I was hoping never to see it again ... Love and higgest bugs Jayne x x x

Dear Jayne:

The signs of the times predicted --because of the abuse we have imposed on Earth-- sure are scary, and I wouln't like to be here to tell what's coming. It looks to me you live near the ocean, because of the sandy winds you talk about in your poem... We too here in New York are really preoccuppied by the changing weathers, on top of the sinister terrorist attempts against the millions. Great poem, nice wording, exacting images! Lv&Hgs, Hugo

Dear Hugo

I think a big sign of our punishment on earth is the cull and extinction of so many species, sorry cannot help it I am a nature girl through and through have my own diamond python snake ... lol ... it says a lot that what took millions of years to evolve in a couple of hundred we have wiped off the face of the planet so many species and still are being wiped out, and the powers that be are arguing about this and that trying to sign treaties , still doing nothing ... its a crying shame our future generations will have to dream what we take for granted ... thanks for the read and the comment sorry to ramble but I can see the winds of change here in my country and they do not bode well for the future love and higgest bugs Jayne x x x

now this is

a good one indeed. the imagery: "A sheet of tin/is flapping like hands,..." "In glimmers of light/that dapple the floors"... "Dapple" is probably the perfect word here. your descriptive power has quite a bit of potential--excellent job! GB
