winter

Winter...
do not forget
among the loss of flowers
me

Beneath your death of snow

Do not forget
That little bird of sun,  the trees gave down;
Their bending branches,
To light the grass
Where love was new

Do not forget my love;
That nights most fragile gift,
The sky;
Bowed low to give a blushing praise
To the joyful dance of stars and moon.

Do not forget the nesting hope of spring;
Made sparrows by your fingers;
That speak a deeper silence then words

Remember me, my love,  in the summerless field.
The slender moment; bereft of rain
Before life, and you became.

despite this loss & sadness you leave us with a warm kiss of opt

Beautiful to see this here in the spotlight & I am mesmerised on reading, I am sure we all are, this is just such a lovley write deep & permeating... I feel like it reaches into the centre of me with it's delicate sadness - I don't know how you do it, despite this loss & sadness you leave us with a warm kiss of optimism anyway somehow... Just wonderful. These lines are just hauntingly beautiful "do not forget the nesting hope of spring made sparrows by your fingers that speak a deeper silence then words remember me in the summerless field the slender moment bereft of rain before life and you are here." but so are all the other lines. Well done. Cheers Anni~ "Making the decision to have a child is momentous. It is to decide forever to have your heart go walking around outside your body". ~Elizabeth Stone

I could have sworn I

I could have sworn I commented on this, probably forgot to press the submit button again. ;-( Suffice it to say, this is poetry at the peak of perfection. Thank you for sharing... Btw did I ever tell you I lived in the hinterland of NJ for about 10 years? Loved the proximity to NY, mountains, the shore. It seemed unless we had a blizzard (about a day or two after Ohio) the snow usually melted by noon-ish. Ahh. memories... and to think (hi Lyz) there are those of us who have never felt the sting or beauty of snow. Amazing! I don't think I'll ever forget this poem (or you by its inference). ~A

Orphani:

Magnificent poem. I enjoyed reading it. The flow is superb, the winter theme, the pacing, the suggestive language, are really amazing. My friend, you are a great poet! Sincerely, Hugo

Do you play an instrument

Perhaps the harp or the Koto, or the piano/harpsichord, or...? You use the image of fingers several times in your poems and this makes their sensuous movments and rhythms fingered ones. You bend the universe to express your feelings and the great plate of the sky becomes your food for thought while the snow covers the flowers, yet they are here in the poem, we see them unseen as a vision in the death of whiteness. me, in my poetry always

me, in my poetry always needs to be played down becose the biggest battle a poet faces is the ego. it always stands between you, and your subject, when not realistic.
