Dream

I dream of a day when we can truly understand one another

Of a world greater in every way than the one we live in today

Then I wake up to a world laid waste due to destruction caused by none other than mankind

I weep bitterly for this world

My tears escape to the shelter of ill stricken soils of a desolated and dead earth

Then I realize I am still dreaming because

Life springs forth from an utterly deceased, crusted shell of what used to be called “earth”

And sprouts,

And blooms,

And blossoms into happiness

And pollinates this lifeless rock that had once been consumed by hatred

WILL WE CONTINUE DOWN THIS PATH OF DESTRUCTION!

How long will we foolishly,

Naively,

Take for granted all that we’ve been blessed with

These thoughts race through my head

And then I wake up

It’s a beautiful day outside

The sun’s never shined so bright

The birds singing their melodies,

Bee’s buzzing in my ear,

And the wind’s there too

Blanketing me from the sun’s rays with its anesthetizing caress

I step out closer to the edge of my balcony to soak in the awesomeness of it all

In the midst of exhaling the balcony gives away

I plummet seven stories to a most certain death

My life flashes before my eyes

I cry out for help

Useless I know but a natural reaction

It’s only natural we cry out for a savior when in harm’s way

"I guess this is it"

I think as I fall

But wait I am screaming?!

and yet nothing is coming out?!

..........

....Sigh of relief...

….I'm still dreaming......

And then I fly away for the very first time

life's a mystery ; )

there is always that one character in the mystery that you can count on giving the " Benefit of the Doubt" whenever needed. i like to call it " assuming innocence". i often identify with that character and the author always does a good job never really establishing the complexity of that character but only gives the reader only what needs to be known and thus the mystery never really is solved but continues on even after the book. this is very much like life, complexity and all. my quote on my profile that i wrote, " only in death can one truly learn what it means to live" touches base with what i'm trying to convey here but barely so now i'd like to add " But what about those behind in life". we are left to figure out the mystery that those who have escaped in death now know. sorry i got carried away :P thanks though for reading and i am glad you enjoyed the poem. i dream alot :P
