L' Arc de Triomphe

the morning pounds its fists into my head
with the throbbing in my heart
colour drowns in the Cuyahoga
leaves
fall, lonely soldiers floating
in foreign lands

I walk the path of my Mother, silenced
for all eternity were it not for her voice
inside my head.

"Come, my daughter, see how I love
you still, let me embrace your suffering,
my birthing pain."

I ride the currents of a steadfast wind
leading me here, there
an eager chevalier kisses my brow,
stars burn with fervor, passion and compassion
meld me into compromise

I remember no words of my Father
his book is untarnished
without memory, the sands of time
owe no apology:
life is death
and death is life
I live between empty pages

the fleur-de-lis
tattooed upon my breath.

Anna...

It is always with such pleasure I read your writings, I smile with enormous pleasure at the sound of the words fired from your pages... melt into compromise.. loved that, but would it be even better with ... melt "me"... just a thought. loved this write again as I had to go back before leaving... Hi my Moonman, I was considering that. However, melt me didn't quite work. Melding me seems to have the right sound, what do you think? Love, ~A

Dear Anna

How I would LOVE to see the fleur-de-lys tatooed on your breath, you should arrange it with a good photographer and let him 'float' it onto your breath on a frosty day, it would maKe a wonderful illustration for your poem. The empty pages I like too. The sheets of unwritten words wrapping you in, and you perhaps uttering some that your father would have said just because you are his daughter, who knows? I liked this very much and its pattern of thought especially. A really good little anecdote of a poem that has the tendency to stay in the mind after its read. Love from Ann P.S. Should it be L'Arc de Triomphe.

Hi Ann, my sister from

Hi Ann, my sister from Norway, I changed the title, thank you. I've made at least half a dozen changes to poems today. My once or twice a year battle with my back. A little bit of history with my Dad is in order. Father suffered with Bipolar; it wasn't easy to be his daughter though I never doubted his love for me. I suppose my extreme feelings of joy and sadness are quite natural, considering. Love. ~A

Dear Joyelle, pleased to

Dear Joyelle, pleased to meet you, I have placed you on my buddylist so I don't miss your poems, having read the last few... How did I ever? I suppose it happens.... I'm surprised, (JOYELLE, tho I shouldn't be) that sadness is such a great influence for you. Me too. My Manticeptor, my, where did you get such a discerning eye? ;-) Thanks for reading. Would we be poets if no one read us? ~A

Dear Kailashana

I love the flow and the play on words.I walk the path of my mother, beautiful lines. Your passion of the world and those around you are that of an old soul. When I read your writes, I know the pages will be never empty. Love Lyz. XX

Dear Kailashana

There is a great sadness all over and around the poem. It may be because of the biographical bits and signs it contains. It is simply beautiful! Best Regards, Hugo
