Uninhabited dress

The Uninhabited dress

There you hang

and for what

out in the street

you uninhabited dress

who was it that wore you last

or have you never been owned

never been worn

why are you waiting

immobile hanging there

when you should be swinging along

with the hips of a girl

making you dance

the breasts filling you out

the waist held in close

the waltz of life started

performed

so why wait till a customer comes

let me try you on

and take you a walk

to the town

show you off

grace your shapes

with my body

with my thoughts

with my swing of joyful steps

with the dazzle

of your presence

close around me

Uninhibited dress

would you rather she took you

to the town

she has the hips

seductive and bold

she has the allure

the bosoms are full

her eyes are painted

her hair dyed red

her lips have the flare of a colour

that clashes wonderfully

with your shades

she will take you to places

I have never been

never seen

never wish to deem fit for me

no, I don't know

The dress made in Italy

who chose her then

imported to Norway

as a new trend

displayed in the street

like a simple soul

she waits to see what will

make her whole

worn

loved

flaunted

Perhaps it is her

who sits on her throne

of quiet

the little grey girl on the corner

where the mother is ill

and the father long gone

you can dress her

with happy abandon

and verve

if she's got the nerve

to try you

on

she will glide like a queen

through the streets of the town

in her habit

of simple beauty

and all heads will turn round

its the grey girl

who's bought a new gown

so lovely she is

in that dress

who would have guessed

she was

so beautiful

Well Ann

this is a charming poem paced well and right with splashs of colour and tinted with darkness that longing to belong and how we use our skins to vault the voice bravo grey girl

Dear Ann H

That dress, why did it hang so long? But I am glad the little gray girl suited it. A match made, how lovely. And yes, she would have felt beautiful. Nice read. Lyz XX

Beautiful...

Dress her in that dress! She will do it justice. The grey girl needs that dress! The dress needs her! The act of wearing that dress, will change her into the person she really is, and show the dress to it's full potential. Kinda like that movie about the three friends that share one pair of jeans. Love it! Sir Gee

The way i like to read a poem is without any preconcieved ideas and just read through it.To see how it touches me on that deeper level.and then reread it for detail. When it takes me to that special place inside me regardless of any other consideration I kow from the heart its worth.and this poem dwells within me. what more to add.Simple form to me reveals the deepest complexities..........o
