Halloween Night (A Poem for Children)

Oh the most wonderful night of the year
The only time fun mixes with fear
When witches prepare to make a brew
To trick the senses and put a curse on you
They cackle and cackle  and dance round the flame
Scaring the innocent is their favorite game
But don't be afraid little ones, its all in good fun
For their curses will fade with the return of the sun
Yes on All Hallows eve, The creatures of night
Come forth in full force to give us a fright
Black cats slink past us, owls hoot in the trees
You can hear the yell of the banshee, mixed in the breeze

The party of the ghost's is going full force
Here comes the headless man, on his midnight black horse
Oh how much fun this is going to be
The best  time of  your life, just wait and see
The dance of the skeletons is not to be missed
And if you are caught under the poison Ivy, your sure to be kissed
The grinning jack o lanterns faces are all lit to glow
The zombies have arrived to join in the show
Frankenstein's monster is the life of the ball
Black fuzzy spiders decorate the hall
The werewolves are boasting, "we are the best"
The vampires challenge " Care to put that to test"

But don't mind them every year its the same story
Each of them fighting for their own kinds glory
When will they learn they are equally grand
Oh listen !its time for the goblin rock band
Their music it awesome you are sure to love it
And if you don't they will tell you to shove it!
The mummies are here, they are a bit of a bore
But the monsters are great if you are into gore
So when you are done getting candy come join in the fun
Celebrate with us for the night is still young
We will party and romp under the full moon light
And yell Happy Halloween to all and to all a good night!

Dear Elizabeth

You should seriously think about writing for kids. I do in my spare time, but not published etc.You have a great gift. I write poetry for newborns, birthdays weddings etc, framed, they are inexpensive and seem more appreciated. But a book of poetry about Halloween, that would be great. Just a thought. Lyz. XX

Great pictures drawn in words, very alive and lovable. Well done, my girl. But REMEMBER: If you go out after dark Vampire bats will leave their mark On your neck, they'll suck your blood Werewolves prowl your neighbourhood And from the local cemetery Zombies try to block your way But if you MUST go out tonight Off you go! You'll be alright ! Again, well done greeneyes Love Ian xx

eating apples off a string

Oh what fun what fun! You love it too don't you Greeneyes? At a boarding school all the teachers dressed up as school children and were almost unrecognisable. Then in the pitch dark a story of a highwayman was read and as it was there was his finger sent round the circle of people =sausage. One of the H's eyes= a grape etc it was really quite scary and ekelt(N). We always had Halloween parties as children at home and played all sorts of games like eating apples off a string, or tasting unseen ingredients, all dressed up of course, but usually in our own created costumes. No one went round collecting anything, no sweets or money involved, just fun as you say. But don’t mind them every year its the same story
Each of them fighting for their own kinds glory.............(something about the rhythm here?) And the kind's glory. And your music IS awesome?
Just occasionally this turns into prose-like poetry and then falls back into rhyming poetry I feel? Great fun though, I might go back to the Kindergaten and come out of the woods dressed as a Troll the children would like that, a kind troll as they are 3-6years old and could be frightened, the boys wouldn't perhaps!
