REACHING BACK

          O how the years creep
           by and eager eye has
              been by and bye
           The experience of youth
              has shortened sight
For i dare not look to far
or gaze up on a distant
                            star.

           With feet planted as firm
as the roots of a mature
           oak because i stood still
to long and now apart of
              what i look back on

          Through foolish ways hazy
                  days youthful craze,

I dream it still with optimistic
                 mindset belief in fate
                 but how much longer
                          must i  wait .

Dear ziggy

How true, loved this, funny how others see something of their selves in someone else's words. Amazing. My nan was from Ireland and she and my mum had the palest of skin, freckles yet the thickest curls of auburn hair. I inherited none of it. But they always told me how beautiful the country side in Ireland was, is, but I am as planted as your mature oak. Lol. Love it. Lyz Xx

This is a beautiful piece, filled with yearning. I would love to visit Ireland someday, as I am part Irish (the other parts are English and Scottish) My favorite lines are: I dream it still with optimistic mindset belief in fate but how much longer must i wait . Always, Cat

It is weird how someone can write a poem and you stare at it and in its reflection you see yourself! Loved this: "For I dare not look too far, or gaze up on a distant star" A great piece, enjoyed it. HS ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- "With all that I am and all that I could be, I walk this earth and yet nobody sees me".
