SILENCE

You're quietyour silence draws me in.You're pensive -your withholding magnifies my sin. Your behaviour
seduces me at once -your retiscensecrafts my response. Your silence beckons to the inadequacies within.Your minimalism creates a void                        that sucks me in. BjR  September 5, '09

The mystery

of the "secure stranger" is all over this one. That great Christian philosopher Kierkegaard once said, "When we encounter a person and he does not speak for a long time, and then finally utters a word, one might say that for a moment we hear the voice of God." This poem reminded of that: " your silence draws me in/You’re pensive/your withholding/magnifies my sin." Sleek, oily line--nearly perfect. Great job. GB

Hello GB

Thank you so much for your comment, you have enlightened me considerably! I always tend to look at the weakness, nay! the pathology behind the mystery... and with the weight of Kiekegaard, you have changed that! Appreciate your insights! Bonita j

Boni...

I have to say I think this is one fabulous poem, the secure stranger that quill mentioned is really all over this, the wise, the one that speaks only when something needs to be said... loved it! Richard

Coming from you that means a lot! I saw it as just a sliver! Wrote it whilst in a lecture on Friday.... no shakes I thought! Just goes to show: "never can tell!" Thanks for stopping by Boni

Thank you Theo!

It's so nice when someone of your calibre stops by per chance and then falls onto something they like! I too don't know of this "secure stranger" - it must relate to something in the American culture perhaps? Any comments or insights would be appreciated! CHeerio for now! Boni

AHA!

Yet another learned opinion to give you the flip side of the "secure stranger" "SILENCE IS THE SAFEST POLICY IF YOU ARE UNSURE OF YOURSELF" de La Rochefoucauld Cheerio Boni
