Autumn

Autumn

Autumn leaves
Along the wayside
A lonely sunset

Hunter moon blush
Orange fire burned
In the eastern skies

Birds sang farewells
Evening skies
Flying south

Love of two hearts
Appalachian mountain
The rising sun

Glad you like it. I thought the touch of romance at the end would give it a special touch. ~~~~~~~~~ Be whoever you are At all times, and Remember that Because of this, people will Always Respect, and Admire you ©2008Leonard Respectfully Yours, Barbara

You are doing great. I was terrible at giving suggestions and just as bad at understanding the suggestions I did get. I kept trying anyway. Commenting at first then working up to suggestions is the way to go. It's what I did and it worked with help from my friends here. ~~~~~~~~~ Be whoever you are At all times, and Remember that Because of this, people will Always Respect, and Admire you ©2008Leonard Respectfully Yours, Barbara

Mountain magic moments

Oh beautiful, just beautiful Barbara, you singe our thoughts with colours and the fires of passion in a sensitive and charming manner, here in this little gem of a poem. You have in this, like the skies of Africa, sunsets and sunrises, those irresistable moments of fire that make even the natives of that country stand, silently in awe of its grandeur, as they did when my Aunt was visiting Nairobi, there was a sudden hush, and all people with that big expanse of the view, stood still to watch the rising of the sun. She was very moved by the act. You make us stand still as we read your poem dear Barbara, yes you do! Love Ann of Norway

Neither have I been to Africa

But your poem sent me straight there with this memory of a description from my Aunt Anne who wrote it in a wonderful letter to me many years ago. She was a botanist so taken with the beautiful things in nature. Love Ann

You captured me

totally at the end with: 'Two hearts fell in love On the Appalachian mountain At the rising of the sun' Having driven across these many times, I received an instant happy visual. And now is the time of the year to see the Appalachians. Hope to revisit the scene soon. Deelilah

Barbara, for one thing, in

Barbara, for one thing, in your "Autumn Leaves" poem, I'd change the tense to the present. Also, it seems to me, the poem should have a title that encompasses all the imagery, not just autumn leaves. It seems the poem consists of several haiku and is not free form.

thanks for critiquing each stanza do stand on its own, but is not haiku at least in the traditional sense,5-7-5 which is how I write haiku. but you are right about the title. ~~~~~~~~~ Be whoever you are At all times, and Remember that Because of this, people will Always Respect, and Admire you ©2008Leonard Respectfully Yours, Barbara
