Jess-Elf

Jess-elf

I feel the hole
in which he used to fit,
in this house of poets.
But I find no trace
of his special residue,
this elf so unusual.
Outspoken in his opinions,
sometimes abrasive-
sometimes humorous-
sometimes kind-
but always honest-
probably one of
the most honorable
poets in a host
of thousands.
Many voices cry out
in the uneasy silence,
for him to return.
He is lost to us,
can't even find his
responses to our poems
to derive comfort from.
Like a sailor lost at sea,
I am drowning in
the lack of him;
my heart strings keen
to his multifaceted memory.

Courage. Jess has the

Courage. Jess has the courage to be himself... (Eh Lynn Hall) Right, wrong or indifferent. He however, is more fortunate than we. (And I know he would probably beg to differ.) He gets to hang around himself. Cat, always a pleasure. Seren, I knew that quote would come in handy on your birthday. lol. Hugs of love, ~A

I once had the good fortune

of having Jess stop by to read a poem of mine. Even with that brief contact - I can sense his absence. Would that he were to stop by and read how much we all miss him now! Nice of your to conceptualize it Cat. Good piece. Not mawkish! Cheerio BOni

Hmmmm

There is so much I could say about the content on this one, but I won't. You did well writing a tribute to your friend. I keep tripping on the word honorable though, because he threatened me one time after I spoke my mind. (Which is ironic considering how much he speaks his and expects no one to challenge him about it.) I thought of him as a friend until he turned on me like a rabid dog - let's hope you never get to feel his bite. I still think he is a very interesting person, and can be engaging to chat with. However, his negative moments shouldn't be excused and over looked because of "all he has done for the site". If anyone else at this site had behaved in the manner that he had - they would've been banned long before he had.

I’m reminded of an old

I'm reminded of an old proverb: "To he who is given much, of him much shall be required." Jess fits this to a *T*, imo of course. I very much admire your ability not to throw out the baby with the bath water. Nor do I know the ones who have been banned and what their behaviour was in words, poems, interactions. To me, that would be a key issue in determining with any certainty that he was given leeway where others weren't. Unfortunately, many brilliant minds and hearts have issues with *appropriate behaviour*... Did you see the movies or read any books about: *A Beautiful Mind* ~ the absolute brilliancy of John Nash, or Nathaniel Ayers *The Soloist*. There is a long long list. Peace and Light, Anna

Dear Candlewitch.

I never knew Jess, but I think his friendship with most on this site, has proven to me, one for all and all for one, that is respect and it is great to see this defensive side of some gentle people. Your write is from the heart, I enjoyed the read. Well done. Lyz.

Thank you All

Jayne, Anna, Boni, Blue Halcyon and Manticepter, for replying to my poem for a missing friend. I once had a run-in with Jess-elf, too, but we worked it out, as friends often do.

How awesomely simple. I am

How awesomely simple. I am reminded of so many folks in my life. Most I have connected with immediately, even knew them before I knew them... some disliked me until they got to know me, I can seem to be aloof in real life, it's my innate shyness and once past that we become fast friends... others, well, let's just say it's better not to cross paths. I do however remain open for *relationship*. ~A

Love You For This, Cat!

Love you for this, Cat. Like all others on neopot, I am also saddened by his absence. I hope he will be back soon and the AEC will reconsider their decesion. Jess was an asset to this site. Cant forget how he helped me sincerely in improving my work. a little bit harsh in his criticism though but I loved that. Not only me but many can say Jess help them improve and worked hard for improving the quality of neopoet. We need him to come back and all on the neopoet should stand for him!! Sincerely, Wafi "Culture, location and beliefs; All vanish with love!" ~Afzal Shauq~

Thank you for understanding and for your own story about Jess-elf. Six months is a long time... I hope they decide to cut the punishment back to three, instead. Always, Cat

i don’t know thesubject of

i don't know thesubject of this at all... obviously left before i came here. not knowing him is a good thing i think, because i have no emotional investment to perhaps colour my review. i really like your opening 3 lines... they're a great lead-in to this tribute. i like that you've kept it focused, and not veered off into a rant about the reason for his absence. and these lines?.... 'Like a sailor lost at sea, I am drowning in the lack of him; my heart strings keen to his multifaceted memory.' ...just beautiful. very poetic, and for this reader, highlight the melancholy without being morose. a fine tribute poem. cheers p.

Hi Cat

Lovely tribute for our elven friend. Last I heard, he's working on his spoken word poetry, and growing a ZZ-Top beard =) Still think 6 or even 3 months is very excessive. I can think of a couple other people that should have been thrown out on their ear as well, but what the hell do I know? That kitty isn't Benni, is it?? Which of the 4 is that one? (s)he's gorgeous! ~Jess K. ----------------------- "You must cut down the mightiest tree in the forest with.....a herring!" - The Knights who say Ekky-ekky-ekky-ekky-p'kang-zoop-boing-g'dem-zoo-owli-zhiv!... and formally.... hello Jess-Dwarf

I think it was excessive, too, and like you I know of a t least one other who should get banned for harassing another poet. I sure do miss his voice around here. Is there any way he might be pardoned? This kitty is Beau (Beauregard)Benny's little brother. Beau is a Blue Point Birman and Benny is a Seal Point Birman. Beau was the runt of the litter, but he sure makes up in attitude what he lacks in size. I'm very proud of all my kitties :) Always, Cat

oh cat! thankyou!

I don't quite know what to say. I accept the praise and acknowledge that I also did harm to some, for which I am truly sorry and grieve. Especially Misty. Cheers, Jess, reprehensibly irrepressible
