Final Word

Deep within

the darker echos

of your heart

the mind keeps

whirling and

searching

for words

that'll make

you happy.

But, ay, they'll

get their meaning

from the life

you alone

have lived, no

matter how,

nor when

nor why, not

even when

pretending

you've been

nothing

more than

an honest

bystander.

Take a grip on

yourself:

in the silence of

your soul

the grace will come,

God Knows

when and where

and why,

even if just to say

the final word.
