the lady is a forest
*and we can't see her for the trees*
She wears amber on black,
like they are complimenting colors,
and we all stand and stare in awe.
She is a rule bender, the exception.
She only grows moon flowers in her garden
like they are more than just a rare weed
and we all gather on that night
as she kneels, her hands cupping the bloom.
She weeps and ink flows down her cheeks
like she is a paper doll come undone
and we help her strike the match
as she tears at the walls
of her cardboard kingdom.
