Las Profundidades Del Océano

I slowly unbolt my eyes

And there I lay on the rough beach,

The waves booming at my feet.

The sea seems to meet with the sky

Prominent as a single line

In the 180 degree vision of my eyes

I discard my clothes,

Throwing them to the sand

Safely away from the tide.

The water is warm when my skin collides

In time, I’m up to my waist,

The sensation of swirling water is soothing to my skin

I’m a hundred meters off the shore

When I feel the ocean floor decline

It drops out from underneath me.

Depth becomes harder to define

I maintain swimming, almost fleeing

Advancing further out

Glancing, turning ‘round

I want the land, to expand,

To be my new horizon.

My muscles begin to tighten,

I wonder if I’ll cramp up

If hungered sharks will appear

I don’t desire to die out here,

I don’t desire to drown,

I don’t want to be found, alone

Floating face down

Yet I seem to keep swimming,

 The swell, gently lifting

And I keep drifting in doubt.

‘Till I’m almost a kilometer out,

My toe finds something more solid

My other foot softly lands down on it,

Could I have found solace?

AH HA! I’ve found a sandbar,

A small isle concealed under water.

I can walk again, sort of,

The ocean lapping at my knees.

I take a few steps

And then sit down wherever I please

My legs crossed, my arms back,

The gentle swell, slapping at my neck,

And I sit there for hours, Sand at my heels

Contemplating, formulating ideals

Watching as the clouds move in, surreal

But obstructing the night sky.

It begins to rain, and I raise my face to comply,

Eyes closed, I open my mouth wide.

Drops aplenty are devoured

But when I revive my eyes,

I’m back on the beach

Within reach of my clothes.

Confused, I use my garments as pillows,

Curl up, fetal position, leave recollection a haze

And fall asleep upon a hollow

‘Till forever and a day.

Heya lyz Im tryin to start the 2nd chapter as we converse, id be the worst full time author around lol The title is "the depth of the ocean" in mexican spanish... as far as I know haha spanish makes my pants happy and also its a slight paradox because at one stage the protaganist is sitting down a kilometre out from shore with his head above the surface of the water:) Glad you like this one :) ♣
