The wick

Rainwater thins the tallow,

A flame slowly smothered by patient gallows

White wings flutter,

Black cards scatter in the corner of my eye

Todays' inherent yield

My morrows' murk agog,

Kindly douse this candle's dwindling fervor

so few words, so much to read in it ... yum!

Yay, loved this - can't add much - good write, the only TINY thing I have to offer... wonder how it would read if you took the "a" out? A flame slowly smothered by patient gallows works better for me, but it's hardly that different. I feel this little write is packed full of meaning & sentiment, that makes it delicious to me... so few words, so much to read in it ... yum! from Cheers Anni~ "A word is not the same with one writer as with another. One tears it from his guts. The other pulls it out of his overcoat pocket". ~Charles Peguy

Dear Doorman

Loved the deepness of this, maybe small but says a lot. I enjoyed. Lyz.

Lyz

I was a little concerned if the write carried itself, due to its' brevity. So, your compliment means a lot. Thanks for visiting. Sincerely, Espen.

The wick

Nice title Espen! Liked where the theme went... right up to the closing line! "My morrows’ murk agog, Kindly douse this candles’ dwindling fervor" (singular?) Your writing is par excellence! Bonita j
