Danse Macabre (Inspired by Bonitaj's poem Dance Of The Macabre)
Danse Macabre
Without you I would
cease to exist.
Long have I pursued
your movements of sheer
perfection and splendor.
Like a kite soaring
and dipping in
the air currents,
you take me flying
on a heady ride
of child-like abandon
which I remember
before my corruptive
descent into depravity.
If I could, I would
engage you in the
Danse Macabre,
But you are too
cunning in your
innocence to be
lured to your death.
A shame to be sure,
for at last we could
hold each other in
the glow of our
ultimate exhalation.
What grand diversion;
to waltz to our deaths.
this is what my dictionary has to say about "Danse Macabre."
horribly gruesome: including gruesome and horrific details of death and decay
[15th century. From French (danse) macabre, a dance in which Death lured people to dance until they dropped dead. Of uncertain origin: probably an alteration of danse Macabé, a translation of medieval Latin chorea Machabaeorum, “dance of the Maccabees,” originally probably a representation of the slaughter of the Maccabees in a medieval mystery play.]
