Bother Blast and Damn

 "Bother Blast and Damn"

Bother, blast and damn

that is who I am

never satisfied with this

that or anything

what'll I do about that

now I'm getting fat

roll on my back

and spit in the air

my life's in a tizzle

I don't really care

so take my advice

and don't follow me

I'm the scratch

on yonder apple tree

razed by the moose

that kind of a horse

in the north you see

lather your back

with an old type of sack

and roll to the end of the road

and back

you'll soon see why I'm a fraud

or did you see Harold and Maude

with a hearse

for a curse

on the parents

who wondered why

and so did I

while making a pie for the King

and rolling a great big ring

to the town

what a thing to do

said the nurse

gallop and wallop the horses I threw

in the dew of the morning

of 22

and now we are tired,

or aren't you

of this ranting and raging

on nought

what a thought.

Hi Ann

This was just like you said, pure nonsensical fun. It reminded me just a little of Lewis Carol. 'I’m the scratch on yonder apple tree razed by the moose that kind of a horse in the north you see' That amused me living in the lands where the moose (or is it meece, or perhaps mooses, but certainly not mice---now you've got me doing it). And I can certainly relate to all of the beginning---all the way through 'tizzle'. So thanks for the entertainment. Yours, Deelilah

Moose = elg in Norwegian

The sound of the word moose in Norwegian means mouse in N. only they spell it mus, the u is a little more like the French u, not so oish. They are the largest mammals in Europe in the wild. Not as big as the American/Canadian/Alaskan Elks. (Of course!!!!!!) What what not and all that. A pinch and a punch I'm the first in the month. Black hares, as I sommer-sault to the bottom of the bed last thing at night, white rabbits as I sommer-sault back to the top of the bed. Fill my mouth with water and walk downstairs bakwards and kiss the first person I see... Such things we did at boarding school on the first of each month! So happy September to you Deelilah, Love from Ann of Norway

You were ....

You were quite the one in school I see. I'll bet that you were at least part of whatever tom-foolery that went on, if not the instigator. Fill your mouth with water, and walk backwards downstairs, kissing the first person you see? That sounds like it could be trouble if it were a teacher or the head-mistress. LOL I love your little non-sensical poems, it makes me feel as though all the joy has not gone from you yet. I'll bet that you still make things fun for your friends and neighbors. Your devoted knight of the realm, Gee.

Oh Yes I think I was.

At the boarding school for the 4 yrs I was there I would act the fool and they would laugh until they cried, then I would hum music to them until they were asleep, then I would don my-paper-makers-roller-rug-dressing gown and stand between the curtians, huge thick heavy ones, on the wide window sill and look at the moon and the stars for hours. Not saying or thinking of anything except about the vastness of the universe that I was a tiny speck in. Of such contemplation is poetry born. No? Even if it didn't spring out until I was ancient. Thank you yes I was the court jester there, but not everywhere and silenced for many years in between I now am reborn as young( my mother's maiden name was Young) again and can laugh and dance in my freedom of speech! SO WATCH IT! Love to my Knight of thr realm of fantasy and ridiculous thoughts Ann of Norway.

Watching it....

One thing about getting older, is the fact that you begin to think not about your dignity, but the fun you are missing. I love it when people say about me, that he is like a little kid! I am! I just never grew up, and maybe that was some of the trouble I have had as an adult. But now I am past that stage, and can afford the luxury of being who I really am again. You are an inspiration to this knight, and I will be forever in your debt for your gracious bestowing of my title as a knight of the realm. Thank you O' Queen, yours forever, Sir Geezer.

Yes I was the one to climb trees

to climb up trees and when I introduced myself at the final place where I worked at the knidergarten I sighed as I have done so many things, so I just announced that I was an old lady who can stand on her head, they all laughed but I proved that I could too and I was older than some of the children's grandmothers!!!! I decided early that I never wanted to grow up as all the Victorian old ladies that used to visit us when I was little, taking about such uninteresting things put me off ever becoming like them, I was- sh! even taken as my sister's daughter once !!!( and she is 2 yrs younger than me!) Who wants to be hoity toity? Fake, ladi-da, foppish or "faut pas!" Lead on MacDuff, be yourself in all things, if they don't like it let them lump it, that's YOU. My Knight of the realm, you honour your country by being yourself, willy nilly. Your Queen Anne of Great Boldness.
