When a Journey Befalls You
'Twas a small request
so I tried my best
to lead this venture into the night;
let the evening bring
a place to sing
Johnny Fingers seemed a bit, alright.
The luck we had
could've made us mad
but, amiable were we;
what was in store
we hadn't bargained for
'twas not our night to Karaoke!
Well, Johnny's didn't rock
and her truck-door's lock
swallowed the key up to the grip;
locked out of the truck
we embraced our luck
and embarked on our private trip.
What we found
after walking through town
was, this journey made us smile;
drawing ever close
much more than most
we enjoyed sharing each mile.
What a lucky guy!
How blessed am I?
To have Laura as my guide;
we began the pace
towards my place
our smiles growing ever wide.
Can't say for sure
what you'll endure
when a journey befalls you;
one thing I know
wherever I should go
I'm taking "Smiley Eyes" along, too!
The night grew old
and truth be told
finally, in my living room;
our trip did cease
and we found peace
ignoring any shade of gloom.
The night was getting late
as we did conversate
we both were getting in the know;
we had time to share
as we both sat there
and watched each other.....grow.
so I tried my best
to lead this venture into the night;
let the evening bring
a place to sing
Johnny Fingers seemed a bit, alright.
The luck we had
could've made us mad
