Nothingness

The limbs of fall bowed as if to meet her feet
Never noticing before now, just how severe or how sweet

Swaying this way and that as they fiercely whipped
Loosely leaving everything behind to make one last trip
Dedicated glances confronting her shadows never seen
Speed that feels reversed to a day left somewhere in between

No dreams of marriage, a prince with a castle or a fancy carriage

No babies to care for, house to keep up with or husband to adore

Cherishing this moment of absence as a child, now that she has grown
Wielding tidy bundles of mail left undelivered to an address unknown

And yet, the wind propels her like the leaves off the trees
Sending her into the great abyss looking for what is to be
She casts off any endings that others had hoped to see
And lends herself to nothingness as this has set her free

Nothingness

Jamadarie, In general, I like your poem the first line drew me in wanting me to read the rest of the poem. But then I got lost in the extra wording. Some tightening up I think would make it more interesting.[Just my opinion] ___________________________________________________ Income-tax forms should be more realistic by allowing the taxpayer to list "Uncle Sam" as a dependent Anonymous
