A Poem Full of Carrots
A Poem Full of Carrots
I have seen beautiful things,
And I have left them alone too long inside my head.
They have grown wild.
The back of her knee has fallen in love
With a lake swarming with light,
And they grind slowly against each other in the dark.
A Bolt of Lightning has buried its kiss in the neck
Of Einstein's Handwriting.
The Wingspan of Your Smile
fights the White Keys silently and fiercely.
[she wants to feel more,
she wants to feel more of him.]
The Color Red flushes under the hands
Of Picasso's Blue Period.
My Sister's Wrist exhales
Against the shoulder of A Driving Rain.
~
If you think you see movement behind my eyes,
It is only them,
Rocking each other back and forth
In their strange arms.
If you think I write poems,
It is only because
Some gone, wild and beautiful thing
Has fallen in love with the rim of my mouth
Has stood at the edge,
Spread its arms,
And let itself fall.
