Teacher

Let me see with the eyes of an owl
and hear like an elephant,
fly with the ever soaring eagle
with no voice to scream, that I can't.

Let me see details with the eyes of a painter
and may I hear with both ears, musical,
can I please be the one to touch passionately
sharing why my heart's so full.

Let me love with the heart of a mother
may my eyes reflect light from above,
blind me to the differences of another
so that I may truly glimpse love.

Give me enough blame to stay humble
and enough shame to cause me to cry,
remind me with just enough illness
that life's too short, before I die.

Teach me the lesson of wonder
allow basking in the rays of a song,
invest into me life's knowledge
let the weak, and the meek end up strong.

Then, let me have the role of..."teacher"
perpetuating my only goal,
to cultivate the brightest reflections
that exists, in everyone's soul.

beautiful poetry. I really like (give me the love of a mother's heart). It is such a precious phrase. Dear Doc,

This sentimental old heart broke at beauty in these words Let me love with the heart of a mother may my eyes reflect light from above, blind me to the differences of another so that I may truly glimpse love. that whole stanza is awesome, Then, let me have the role of…”teacher” perpetuating my only goal, to cultivate the brightest reflections that exists, in everyone’s soul. this stanza say it all ... and this poem made me think of my quote on my profile... “The first step in the acquisition of wisdom is silence, the second listening, the third memory, the fourth practice, the fifth teaching others.....Solomon Ibn Gabriol. ” thank you for sharing this one Doc ... I really felt you in this one ... reaching .. and touching on the profound ... Regards Jayne "We did not change as we grew older; we just became more clearly ourselves. Lynn Hall" ...

Thanks, Jayne....

...for your loving comments. You've heard of a, "3 dog night"...well, this one for me was a, "3 day write". Funny how that works. The more time I spend on something...the lesser amount of comments I get...but, thank you for your generosity of words. Again, you're a diamond in my eye. "Write on"! sincerely, 8==== docmaverick.

Dear docmaverick,

Well done! And another, well done! This is a beautifully thought out utopian poem. There is one place of awkwardness in the flow or beat of the words: can I please be the one to touch passionately sharing why my heart’s so full. Not a huge issue. Five stars without hesitation. Brian

Thanks, again Bri....

...maybe if it's read with one breath on the line before, and then a comma to cause you to "rest" on the word, "why"...it would come out smoother. To me it was a "rest" in the current cadence. "Write on"! sincerely, #{:-{)}8==== docmaverick.

Please Doc, my intention

Please Doc, my intention never is to *flatter*, nor would God's poet ever be flattered. I think you know that. Flattery has no depth of meaning. ~A

For to blush....

...at high praise, is to be humbled and reminded of one's place...and that is being flattered. To be referred to in the same sentence as God is humbling, to me. Thanks again, "Write on"! sincerely, @{:-{)}8==== docmaverick.
