THE GATEKEEPER
THE GATEKEEPER
This massive, hooded figure was the keeper of the gate
In the darkness of his cowl gleamed two red eyes
I stood terrified before him, trying not to earn his hate
With a trembling hand I offered up my prize.
He took it in his scaley hand as if it were diseased
Then perused it in his lantern’s yellow light.
Smiled a sneering, snarling rictus, because he was displeased
Truly this was Satan’s creature of the night.
Another shadow fell across this portal to the Kings
My writ was handed to this demon’s spawn
The door was slightly opened so I managed to slip in
I was backstage, to see U2 play till dawn
