I Am [Dedicated to Barbara Writes]

Look me in the lips
for my true colors
stunning and bright,
closer now. . .
you'll see they match
my fingertips.
I stop traffic [at times]
But will never
be silenced.
I am smiling in the rain
and best in class.
So clear your thoughts
and cast your spells,
I'll come out fighting
so step aside. . . .

Janice, I loved this little

Janice, I loved this little write, I'm not familiar with Barbara's work but this poem makes me want to read her. It's lovingly and well written, for me it might flow better if it read, will never be silenced, in the middle bit, I struggled just a little there and had to reread the line several times (not that that's a bad thing lol) anyway just an opinion ;) really great write, thoroughly enjoyed, cheers, much love Beki xx

Dear Janice

It was a pleasure to read your poem. You have great things to say, and you say it in a very nice and competent manner. The poem has a beautiful feminine glamour in it, and clearly shows the way for a most assertive, clear and delicate demarcation of sensitive power. Great work, Janice, I like it a lot! Regards, Hugo.

It’s a good thing when we

It's a good thing when we have friends that point out our strengths of character, especially in a poetic manner as you have done, Janice. I'd pretty much bet on the odds that the women here have overcome the odds... it ain't easy to write your soul down day after day. Love, speaks all languages and knows all its own wounds. ~A "If you have come to help me, you are wasting your time. But if you have come because your liberation is wound up in mine, then let us work together." Aboriginal Activist Group, Queensland, 1970's
