Unemployed and Bored

Midday has arrived

and it is time for me to get up

being unemployed

gives me plenty of time to lay in bed

after all

there’s nothing else to do

the rest of the day will  be spent

with either my friends

or watching  the television

i can't  go any where or do any thing

because

i got no money

and what little i do get

has to pay for my keep

the high light of my  week

 is visiting the job centre

or as  me and my friends like to call it

the joke centre

in the  evening

we  would sometimes go to the  park

and get drunk

before returning home

not much of a  life

but it’s the only one I have got

time loses its 'value' when there isn't anything to do...

Well I can't say that the piece had rhythm or it 'flowed', but then again, I don't think a theme of this nature should. It's raw and honest, like a depressing take on the futility of existence when there is no 'anchor'. I've read many works that are more polished and refined in a technical sense, but this piece resonates far more than most of them. It tugs at the angst of being unemployed, partly because I've been in your position, and because I could easily be in your position again....
