Look the Other Way
Look the Other Way
By Jamie Turney
Familiar tides of idle worship crossed her vine this day
Looking outward, always outward, she would never say
Uninviting, appetizing, rolling tongue in cheek
Not surprising, stereotyping, all that’s thought so sheik
Evaluating, circumventing ways to keep her place
Knowing what was lost while trying to save face
Tantalizing, mesmerizing tales of wisdom’s past
Captivating, disengaging words she hoped would last
