For You.
My own needs before my family's.
My personal pain before those who care
The absence of such love
I am so selfish.
I chose to watch my family cry over my mistakes
I thought they didn't care.
Now that I need them
They're not there
I wanted his love,
above all the rest
His words, mattered more than my aunti's and uncles
His praises, mattered more than my grandparents
His embraces, mattered more than my mother's.
I thought that all they wanted was to cause me pain
Steal the joy from my life, and bring back the night
Without him, my will to live would drain
I wanted to keep them happy, but I didn't want them to be right
I won't deny, maybe he didn't love me
Maybe he didn't need me like he said he did
But caught in the moment
It felt like it
I gave him my heart
He gave me his
They tore us apart
And now the haze is lifting
My personal pain before those who care
The absence of such love
I am so selfish.
I chose to watch my family cry over my mistakes
I thought they didn't care.
Now that I need them
They're not there
I wanted his love,
above all the rest
His words, mattered more than my aunti's and uncles
His praises, mattered more than my grandparents
His embraces, mattered more than my mother's.
I thought that all they wanted was to cause me pain
Steal the joy from my life, and bring back the night
Without him, my will to live would drain
I wanted to keep them happy, but I didn't want them to be right
I won't deny, maybe he didn't love me
Maybe he didn't need me like he said he did
But caught in the moment
It felt like it
I gave him my heart
He gave me his
They tore us apart
And now the haze is lifting
