remember how

Remember how we rode together
on horses wild beside the river,
sweat drenched flanks sprayed
from waters shallow, steel hooves
ringing the rounded river rocks.

Laughing full tilt reckless
through the grassed  floodplain,
reins fallen to necks outstretched,
arms thrown to wind swept song
hair whipped wildly, flying long.

How we rode, let them run,
'till sun was caught at rivers turn
where arms come down from shouldered hill
of valleys' close,
and slowed to walking down we slid
to earths sweet banked warm embrace,
pounding thumping torrents of hearts
clouds raced on
eyes full closed to blue
wilder pulsing red shone through.

Heaving chests and breath were stilled
fingers found each others, tip to tip
currents passed.

Remember how our lips were charged
the day we rode together,
barebacked in summer grass.

I tried to catch something

that came to me as a half remembered dream, the breathless pace of it, I think I should keep this one amongst the catalogue of good ideas yet to be completed. Thank you Molly O for the time you take. Craig.
