Between our wisdom and our weakness, I find your birdsong nonchalance (2nd revision)

In these hidden places
I meander to the ancient petroglyphs
Striated with our weakness and our wisdom
Further on are hidden forest grottos
Where shade comes leaf shaped, dancing like a toddler to the room
And there you are!
Smiling from a gentle cascade of beauty in the mellow afternoon
Pleasure drifting on the birdsong nonchalance you do so well
You have slowly drawn in a menagerie of winged ones
They preen and coo and sing divinely in the dappled sunlight Idyl
as they should
I find peace there now though
Set apart I may be
Not exactly offered welcome, but it’s forest freedom here
You shrug proverbially in your well earned glory
And I watch that grin slide across your features
Like a scar you turned to pleasure, lit across your being
Clever alchemist you are

I visit fleetingly
I fear to find my own addiction/longing/pain
I am relieved - despite thisquaranteen
The smoothness of your lovely flow is all I have to celebrate
My vigillant eyes pour their knowing over your creation
Slow motion assimilation feeding slower blink
...There’s so much more than what we see
I have other clearings to explore here, gentle places after all
Just staying clear of bright lights and fractious interaction
Why did I venture from these peaceful comforts?
So nice to see you here

Anni...

Yes, this is very good poetry! It is good to see you shine in your colorful word display. I thought the title could be one or the other, but I personally like the first part of it... excellent! enjoyed this read Richard

Dear Anni,

The poem as sooth, salve and saliva. It has a breeze's gestures and a field flower smell. There are proofs and testaments, inquiries and equities, all laid upon a botanical surgery tray. It is calm longing, as when the glass is already at the lips, the throat awaiting water. It is a good poem. Brian

i have read the first 3

i have read the first 3 lines of this over, and over...the whole piece is quite wonderful, but those first 3 lines are the hook that dragged me effortlessly in...(i think i have line envy!) this is such a tactile write...in fact anumber of yours that i read are; it's a definite quality you have as a poet, to be able to have the reader 'feel' your words. 'like a scar you turned to pleasure, lit across your being','...dancing like a toddler to the room'...sheeeeeeeze, what great expressions. your words just flow, and they take the reader with them...it read to me as if a journey of sorts...a gentle journey, arriving at a place of calm...inner peace. there's just enough here to have the reader really delve into your words, and THINK, but nothing that causes them to scratch their heads thinking 'what the...?' another thing that struck me as i was reading, was the image of the character experiencing all this in a kind of out-of-body way...to me, it didn't feel as if the character was in that place (literally) but more as if they were there in spirit...hope that makes sense (i should warn you, i do tend to woffle in reviews sometimes...well, in real life too!) i came to the end of this, and was left with a feeling of peace. i just loved it. i so look forward to reading more of you.

Oh Anni you give me the name

Oh Anni you give me the name of forest, or wood nymph, and here you are parading the wood-nymph phsychology with your hidden forest grottos - leaf shaped shade - cascades of beauty - mellow afternoon - dappled sunlight idyl I will say no more, who is the wood nymph now? Although there is ample evidence of other sides and this makes the poem have two facets, as if you had a mirror image that was distorted and gave a different style its clang. As if in some places you were laughing at your own nymphishness! Annushka with love.
