Hunger

You haven’t seen it But feel it everyday Disciplined, unlike you So stubborn and strong That life’s afraid of it. No religion, cast or race Intensity is same for all It makes you tasteless Or you can feel sweetness In the most acerb taste. Like your expensive perfume You can feel the smell – As this is also an agitation You can sense the presence Inside of you and looking at me. For the believers Jesus is the food of life They pray for salvation – But when that feeling crawls in Every prayer seems a lie. Deprivation in my plate, on my table Within me and within you All the knowhow to provide all Dying for the deficiency of human will But life needs to be fed. Region, country, boundaries Hold no meanings to it You cannot kill it nor you can beat Freedom is joke to a starving man Freedom- is everyone gets something to eat.

Life Needs To Be Fed!

Loved this Sourav! Great thoughts here. The last stanza holds much power to it, I loved this line more.... "Freedom is a joke to a starving man" So true, my friend... Looking forward to reading more of your work. Sincerely, Wafi "Culture, location and beliefs; All vanish with love!" ~Afzal Shauq~

So Glad You Liked The Quote, Sourav.

So glad you liked the quote, Sourav. Its from the poetry of Afzal Shauq, one of my favorite poets. He is a well known poet of Pashto/Afghani language both in Pakistan and Afghanistan (Pashto is the national language of Afghanistan). Being a writer, poet and travelor, he has published six books in Pashto language, consisting of two poetry books, one novel and 3 Travelogues of European and Asian countries. He is also known as the peace wisher and Selanay Shayer (in Pashto, the traverlor poet). His Poetry is translated into English by American writer, "Alley Bolling", and punblished as "The Twist Of Fate", which was further translated into Chinese due to which he enjoys great fame both in the Westestern and Asian countries. His poetry is based on love and peace for all. I am honored to have translated one of his Pashto poem into English, Urdu and Dari(Afghan Persian), which I posted on the neopoet as well. Will be glad if you take a look; http://www.neopoet.com/node/24387 His books can be read online and downloaded from www.khyber.org, follow this link please for reading and downloading his work http://khyber.org/books/ashauq/index.shtml Shauq has posted some of his poems at Neopoet as well, you may want to take a look; http://www.neopoet.com/Afzal-Shauq. Hope you will enjoy his work if you choose to read, as I do :) I am a great admirer of Shauq and adore his work. Sincerely, Wafi "Culture, location and beliefs; All vanish with love!" ~Afzal Shauq~

Freedom is a joke to a starving man..

What a line! Good reflection on poverty and malnutrition. I had one week of genuine hunger but even then it was assuaged by some olives and onion with bread..
