Pretty Credit

My credit card
wants to run my life
it seems incredibly hard
but not without a fight

I would let it run my life
if it would pay my rent
one day I will see the light
or I will be living in a tent

pay my bills
that would be just fine
may very well make me ill
seems I have plenty of time

say no
to cash advances
better learn to sew
cos the tellers are all in trances

why did I say yes
to this pretty card
got myself in a mess
next 'll be feathered and tarred

A subject I object to! Yes.

A subject I object to! Yes. Credit... Perhaps you're too young for Popeye...and Wimpy... "I'll gladly pay you Tuesday for a hamburger today". My life is the poster child for the ills of health care, real estate and the financial mess. I'll be much better some day...or not... Good poem, but I'm notagoingta rate it...no matter how pretty that nature scene was. ~A "You can avoid reality, but you cannot avoid the consequences of avoiding reality." Ayn Rand

I remember Popeye,

1962 was when I was born, this is my first credit card, guess I'm a late bloomer. But I don't have a mortgage or a car. Just the credit card and an Art debt! Glad you liked the poem, sorry to hear it's not good enough for a rating! :( fleur

This is an all important subject. We may think credit cards should be taken as a sport --gambling and loving the extra adrenaline--, but in truth there's nothing better than to wake up and realize we've been --past tense-- in the power of a very determined enemy. I also believe that credit cards more often than not really run our lives, but not for the better. My advise is run away from trouble: It's better to be poor, but free from bondage. Thanks fm1962 for illuminating the subject for me, again. Best Regards and blessings. Hugo

Fleur, in our society, it is

Fleur, in our society, it is almost *mandated*... try to rent a car without one, even rent videos... When I was a Realtor, it was difficult for folks with NO credit (credit, cars, loans etc.) to secure a mortgage. It was better to have *bad* credit than to have *no* credit.. That was about 3 yrs. ago. So you're on the right track...just don't go gaga-eyed...lol. ~A p.s. do you do any acting? you would make a perfect Joan of Arc...
