Poet's Blood

Poets Blood

the tears they cry
lie like ink upon the page
the pen in which is dipped
emotions wrung from the soul

caress those hallowed words
for in them is the life,
the anguish, the visions,
the deaths, that each poet
feels deep within
the infinitely vulnerable
soul that is an integral
part of that which they are

read not just the words,
but the emotions
that gives breath
and bequeaths unto
the once lifeless sheet
the heart, in which beats
the lifeblood of the poet

Poet's Blood

Beautiful Rett. Just "one" suggestion: "The lifeless sheet" maybe the once lifeless sheet? _____________________________________________________ Income-tax forms should be more realistic by allowing the taxpayer to list "Uncle Sam" as a dependent Anonymous

Poets Blood

Rhett my friend - Have you read my Agony of a Poet This was created as I observed another poet trying to create and the struggle the pain and anguish as I see this unfold before me so h ard for me to understand - as I just stream The tears I cry are as ink on the paper that waits for my first mark that continues into a river of words my feelings flow endlessly Each word chosen - caressed so tenderly is my life's blood Visions appear as I write always - some so dark so beckoning some so bright so blinding some so longing - full of love - pain the anguish foretold Vulnerable tortured souls are we each breath we take we are sore struck we have no choice it has to be done our life we pour out onto that blank page before us lay - waiting The page should turn red with our life’s blood that pours out from our lifeless soul We who souls cry out to be heard against many deafened ears against hearts that are broken eyes so blind and cannot see of the heartache inside of me Sorry Rhett - It is your fault. As I read you poem my poem became alive in response. Electric blue so blue

I think most of us feel that way about our poetry/writing. It is intensely personal. Respectfully, Rett: "Let us then turn this government back into the channel in which the framers of the Constitution originally placed it. " Abraham Lincoln

Rett…I am glad to see that

Rett…I am glad to see that you decided to post this in the stream thus allowing me to read it again. I like how you touch upon not just the reading of the words but reading the emotions of the poet as well, which to me is where the true blood of an artist comes from as they beat within our hearts and minds. Respectfully, Corey “As the tears we cry become ink stains upon a page of only black and white: How wonderful it is to find all of these amazing paintings hanging on the walls.” Moi

I do very much so enjoy this read..I do love the thought of the emotions of the poet..for most of the writings I have are based upon whatever emotion I am feeling at the moment.. Wonderfully written..the words including the ones not seen but felt.. ~SweetSpirit~

Charming and particular Rett

Poets Blood the tears they cry
lie like ink upon the page
the pen in which is dipped..................not quite happy about the emotions dipping
emotions wrung from the soul............if you leave it is the S needed(?) caress those hallowed words
for in them is the life,
the anguish, the visions,........................vision (?)
the deaths, that each poet.............the death(?)
 feels deep within
 the infinitely vulnerable
soul that is an integral
part of that which they are read not just the words,
but the emotions.........................does it need the S(?)
that gives breath
and bequeaths unto.....................and gives to* the once lifeless sheet
 the heart, in which beats
 the lifeblood of the poet
*(I feel that this empphasises this bit when the real emotional bit is to come in the last three lines which I like very much; in that way you emphasise those lines which are the more important ones I feel) This has the makings of something so charming and particular Rett, nice thoughts and writing. Hi Rett

Hello, My Friend, It looks like I have a lot of reading to catch up on. I shall make a point of reading your short story/s (I may have missed more than one). 'Poet's Blood' is a very accurate description, I think, of how a writer often feels while dreaming and then putting down on paper the dream (or nightmare) while exacting the words to describe an emotion or image; and while making something tangible out of the air, a thing, a memory, moment or memory. Something. I always appreciate your insights. Yours, Deelilah
