The Little Valiant bird (Gray Kingbird known as Pitirre, because of its call)

Slowly circling on warm air
the  Majestic creature looks upon its fare
eagle eye searching for a stray
hoping it might find some prey,

Upon a dense hillside
hidden on a high tree branch
a little Valiant bird does cry
Pitirre, Pitirre!           (Pe - te - reh)

"Fly away or you must die"
the Majestic creature of the sky
pays the little bird no mind
even though its warning it continually cries,

Suddenly with a flapping of wings
and a fluttering of tree limbs
the little Valiant bird does fly
like a rocket towards the sky,

Then like a blur it passes by
the Majestic creature of the sky
high above the clouds unseen
turns and drops into its dive,

Slowly circling on warm air
the Majestic creature is unaware
that far above the great blue sky
death is coming from up high,

The little Valiant bird
rapidly coming from its dive
strikes the creature
plucking out its eye,

Just like that,
the little bird disappears
the Majestic creature lets out a cry
as it tumbles in the sky,

Seconds later another strike
dead upon its second eye
the Majestic creature heads towards earth
trying to find a place to hide,

The final deathblow comes unseen
striking hard as with a mace
the creature falls to the earth
to is final resting place,

No more will I see
the splendor and beauty of its size
circling gracefully
high, high, in the clear blue sky,

A lesson has been learned
that the splendor and beauty of size
can not compete
with the Valor of the little guy!

(The Gray Kingbird lives in the southern parts of north and south America.  They are know to fly faster and higher than any wing predator. If a predator comes anywhere near their nest they call out Pitirre hence the spanish name. They have hard sharp beaks, and are very aggrevive.)
- I wrote this poem as a metaphor about China (the bird of prey) and Tibet ( the little valiant bird), hopefully in the future Tibet will be freed of the tyrant -

A poem with wings...

This is so very beautiful... It flew straight into my heart! Your words flow gracefully, with a touching beauty. This is the only way I can describe, how much I love it. Raven

A cause and a poem dear to

A cause and a poem dear to my heart. No country should be *occupied* by another. That includes Iran. Sorry, for sullying your beautiful work, Señor Cruz. Much love, Anna "You can avoid reality, but you cannot avoid the consequences of avoiding reality." Ayn Rand

Anna,

Please never excuse yourself for how you feel, the truth is always the truth. Yes I would say that America is the bird of prey, I would have thought that we had learned our lesson in Viet Nam, but here we are again. In a place we don't belong. The whole idea of this piece was to provoke someone anyone to take a stand. Thank you Senora, at less there's you and I that see pass all the Lie's. Eddie

Do you?

Do you feel that the world will ever learn its lessons? Representative Dennis Kucinich, former Mayor of Cleveland, former Presidential candidate, has been trying to create a Cabinet for Peace... over 30 years now. It's all in how we see things, eh? ~A

Lol. Returning to my post,

Lol. Returning to my post, I see I either had a senior moment, spelling Iraq with an *n* or I (hopefully not) was in prophecy mode. In any case. Iraq, Afghanistan... Palestine, Tibet... there's always some self-serving conqueror who comes in under the *liberator*, or not. Some just call it *defending*. And we know American keeps creating puppets that end up becoming vicious dogs at our heels, dogs of another war, as a matter-of-fact. Listen,

there is no difference, because our next stop is Iran, and after that it's Korea, so don't fret, your just seeing into the future because of being well informed. I have learned at 55 that there are no senior moments just to much info that other say: "huh, what are you talking about?" so if that's a senior moment I have lots of those. thanks, Eddie

You have reached high above the clouds, and you are really soaring with this Poem. That's why I avoid the comment, instead I'll give it 5 stars. Best Regards, Hugo.

Hugo salutos,

This site was created for us to learn and help in our comments to others so as to improve in our attempt to become accomplished writers. A comment on how you perceived the writing goes along way, the stars are wonderful, but your gut feeling is ever more important, because through the magic of words the writer knows if the affect they went for was translated in there write. thank you so much for your "high five" and for stopping by to read. your brother, Eddie

Eddie

The portrayal of a predator in pursuit of a weaker bird, is a universal theme. That's why I said you were scoring very high. And not only that, the form and the use of words is superb. Of course, no Poem is ultimately perfect, but here you are, decidedly a Poet, a gifted one. Thank you, brother. Regards, Hugo.
