Ruby Scooby Dooby

Back in '69, September time, I wed my pretty chick
I loved her then (I love her now!) but don't the years go quick--

My hair went West, My chest sunk South, my springy step has sprung
But I see her now and wonder how she's kept herself so young
For she doesn't seem much older, just a grey hair here and there
A portrait in the attic? I don't know, nor do I care!

Thanks for your kind words, this is just a wee , silly thing but from the heart, if you like this then you might like "Aphrodite" as well Kindest Regards Ian T

Lighthearted truth-

what a pleasant change. I have no suggestions. I enjoyed the liberal and effective use of punctuation, the internal rhyme and the surprising last line. For someone whose springy step has sprung, this was a jaunty piece.

Thanks for the kind words, I believe that some try far too hard to be "worthy" poets. Let it go with the flow! Have a laugh, it's still allowed ! Kindest regards Ian T
