Step Into My Lab

Whilst doing an acid-salt titration
a mistake in calculation
ends with my frustration
especially since it was my fault

My pKa value isn't in range
the number found seems really strange
my answers I'll have to change
all that work for naught

After finally achieving success
from untangling of that mess
I find more or less
the answer that I sought

No white precipitate
it matches with the correct weight
'mus be an acetate
this mystery sample of salt

and responsible meditation on this particular manifestation of the intellect--mathematics! scares the hell out of me and here you are taking it on. i vaguely remember "acetate" or something of that nature from a math or biology class i probably escaped. good luck and cheerful, calming piece! GB

Thanks, John

Clinical chemistry, actually. Very heavy on math, you're correct. I haven't done quadratic equations and logarithmic functions in probably 15 years. It's a small miracle that I'm getting good grades! LOL! GB you, too, friend. ~Jess K. ----------------------- "Handle every situation like a dog: if you can't eat it, or screw it, then piss on it and walk away!" - unknown

Jess

I always thought chemistry would be a fun course to take, but I was foiled by the ever daunting Mathematics! A fun read! I hope that your classes are going well. Always, Cat

Immersion in salt will cause

Immersion in salt will cause one to float. The device we use is called a floating device. It's as heavy or light, as we are. Nifty poem! ;-) ~A "You can avoid reality, but you cannot avoid the consequences of avoiding reality." Ayn Rand

Jess,

fun poem (well, for me, as I am not the one who's struggling with these lab problems). Liked the sing-songy flow you had here for the most part. Hope you are not working too hard and get your results right more often than you get them wrong. Yours, ~Nina
