THE HEART OF THINGS

I found a crumpled shirt of yours todaya redolent reminder of yesterdays.Holding, hugging, smoothing out the edges what was once a soothing transitional object, now lures me from ample arms
-  onto death's ledges. Abject and alone from my lips
to the outer perimeters of longingI trace this lifeless lost object - Petulant promises spilling over intothe boundlessness of memory -my senses awash with this evocative reminder. Mind bearing the cost of these 'dear'* confines. Heart hearing the command of  minion-like minders 'chanting:'"He'll no more return for thisthan he'll fetch you".  BjR  July 27, '09 *dear - used in the sense of Expensive/costly

closing lines

indeed! Thank you for highlighting the 'bitter reality'. I somehow thought I could capture a child -like voice saying it in that childish way... but I think your conception of it is equally raw and truthful! Thanks Sufi! Bonita j

The bitter-sweetness of this piece really hits home for me. There is nothing quite like that feeling of holding the past in your hands. My favorite lines are: Abject and alone from my lips to the outer perimeters of longing I trace this lifeless lost object - Petulant promises spilling over into the boundlessness of memory - my senses awash with this evocative reminder. incredibly remarkable! Always, Cat
