Suspension unresolved (Wistful poetry crushes, a mystery ode)

I could love you for your words alone
Spring tendrils curling, innocent and unassuming
And I do
Carry from the shadowed depths of you, deep thing
Gentle apprehensions
Curious divides
Wisdom in the undivulged, evocative detail
And then there is the image of the hand (artistic fingers)
Delightfully obscuring smiling face
The ear, an elfin elongation maybe?
Long I have not visited, I know
In any case, a simple, sweet acknowledgement
To an unassuming wisdom and insight beyond years (it matters not)
Unknown, you are a feathered breath
A distant whimsy, an inspiration,
Sunrise saffron fingerprint upon a cloud tip
Glorious promise, never unfolded
A private daydream smile
You waft across occasionally
Lighting my own wistful shadows into tendrils of their own
Warm and sated
You draw me in, unknowing
Invisible the chord (not cord) imbedded solarplexus deep
Yet merely parallel I seek my understanding
And with respect, I do not delve
I just admire… and breathe
The mystery of you is so enticing
You haunt me gently, black and white
And lightly dwell a moment, suspended 9th
Unresolved and fading, gradual like watercolour
Into horizon
Into history
Into heartbeat
Into whispers unuttered
Your mystery is dandelion soft and sky bourn
Float me from this longing to be understood
And this need to speak in convoluted imagery and tone
You beat your wings of lucid irrigation
And wash me, quench me, sweep from me the caustic dust of blind faith
… Yet all of this is magic sprinkled from my own vision
– of your so gentle, rare intrusion
Sweet, such ripe illusion

This just may be one of the best love poems I have ever read. I have no criticisms. The lines that touched me the most are: The mystery of you is so enticing You haunt me gently, black and white And lightly dwell a moment, suspended 9th Unresolved and fading, gradual like watercolour Into horizon Into history Into heartbeat Into whispers unuttered You pour your heart and soul into every piece you write. A whim - knowing how completely we poets can move one another

Hi Cat, thanks, I am so short of time for Neo these days & that will be for a time, makes me sad, I long to go trawling & meander among the lovely words of the Neopoets here, every time I see a message or comment, I want to go check out their latest of course. You are so bright among the joys of this place for me, it is always a pleasure to read you. Glad you liked this, it was such a whim really, I really struggled as to whether I should post it, it is light hearted, knowing there is no reality in the whim, but so deep, knowing how completely we poets can move one another, it can be a dangerous addiction this poetry interaction... ah but such a delight huh? Poem

I love it this poem flows and it's easy to follow. Love is a power not a lot of people can hold on to and fully trust. But I am a believer.

this poem is about me letting love out with no desire to get it

Welcome redhair (not seen you here before) & welcome to our growing group of redhaired writers, thanks for your comment, I agree, but I don't actually understand why that is, never have... Love is limitless & abundant, there is no finite limitation, I know this for certain, I keep finding new people to love in my life & it never dimishes the love I already feel for others, not at all. People say this about having more children "how could I love another when all my love goes to this one child?" But when the new child arrives, there is ample love for both. I think the thing about trust is simpler than it is often perceived too, I trust the love I feel for others because it comes from me & I know it is true, if love comes back that's a bonus (now that is a more complex issue re trust... heh, wont go there now because this poem is about me letting love out with no desire to get it back). Look forward to checking out your work when I finish responding here. Dear Anni,

I must agree with Caitlin, this is an exceptional poem. It warrants the Spotlight. And I think I know whose poem will get bumped. Well, who can really complain when it is the deserving? Now, can you find a way to keep writing like this but on diverse topics? You have controlled a great deal to write this poem. That is one of the keys. This is your fast brain speaking after it has drunk in the nuances and subtleties. There are nuances and subtleties to all topics. I look forward to your continued writing of poems. Affectionately, Brian

Hah, chuckle, such a diplomatic way to tell me you'd like me to digress from my obsession with those I love & am inspired by... yes, it's pretty consuming for me... I just do love lots of people & how thay make me feel... but I see your point & I shall attempt it... thank you,as always, for the push in a less well trodden direction. I do love the idea of the poetry comp constraints (god, I hate constraints!) for that reason, they make me squirm off in different directions, styles, topics etc. though as you know, I dislike the actual competition element & so avoid them since the first time. Must go, thanks Cheers Anni~ ` "Those who dwell among the beauties & mysteries of the earth are never alone or weary of life" ~ Rachel Carson Writer/conservationist

illusionist of realities

so many poets in the past torn about their muses real the time lines of fellow writers sometimes crossing paths at readings book reviews published or just coffee shop crowds where raw talent unblemished spills forth like pure pulp to spin on the steam drums of the mill house linen rag gathered in fine acid free adornment ink ribbons of the day tapped with striking fonts the space bar clunking the bell ringing and the return lever pulled shunted and released the clicking of the drum levering up one notch This poem Your writing is becoming more focused more determined Faith under Fire the acid test resolved blood and bullets as the honourary roll of my Heros and Villans counts out like the New Year time ball falling in 2009 to herald in 2010 this poem has grit and smooth eccentric whorls "You beat your wings of lucid irragation" so well placed words in lands of dry convulsions tinderdry ache yearning to be touched by the spills of the grey underlings Drops falling like mercury fish banks swerving in the current and the drift as always Anni you astound me into bliss when I read I have nothing more then that to honour this

My simple whim is such a whispy shadow in comparison to your gif

Oh Steven.... Jeeeeeeez man! (by the way, forgive me folk if you're offended by my blaspheming here... & whatever made you think I was a church going woman Steven?... I wonder what it was gave you that impression, spiritual, yes, but certainly not secular, you would chuckle if you knew me really)... Where was I? Oh yes... cussing in incrudulity!!! You know, I would write a poem a day to send to you just to get these incredible responses back, you are a phenomenal writer Steven, I have missed this so much. Well, all I can really say then is that the feeling is completely mutual, you astound me into bliss when I read such things as you've written here, which to me are FAR more worthy of spotlight than my actual simple poem which was such a whispy shadow in comparison... sigh! Hmm, true, how could I ever give this up huh? Bugger whether I feel safe here or not... to interact the likes of this page thus far, I should be prepared to be more bulletproof (though actually it was more about others than me... but that IS digressing!!!). Thank you, lovely gift, & I am now so glad I posted this whim. ps, saw a glimpse of a gorgeous pic with your young one, lovely.. & this one is nice too. As I've said for months, have less time for Neo, hard to avoid

Thank Jayne, every time I look you seem to be Queen of Evolution which is actually a great honour I think & a reflection on your efforts to improve, I love that, I'm so bloody lazy with my writing Neo has been good for me in that way, finally I am beginning to tweek things now & then with a few nudges from some of our noble crits here. Hope all is good with you Jayne... I will, as I've said for months, have less time for Neo, difficult to reduce such gorgeous time passing! So forgive me if I drop in less often, hard to keep up here eh?! Well, my gorgeous red haired sister, it may well be ... we will never know, it is of course a mystery Ode!!! Fixed the comma, you were right of course ... Wow that pic of you is mournful... remember I'm your Australian mama, hard to see your young-uns looking so forlorn! Brilliant though. I always feel so proud of you Kelsey, you just keep on stepping out, it's fantastic, I see it in so many ways with you. Hah Jayne, I'm actually really pleased you thought of Kelsey, though I maintain the mystery of course, now I feel secure that it is understood that the poem is about unconditional & non romantic, non lustful love... I will never know if it will be known, or loved, & really it doe

Oooh Kelsey, that image is as powerful as some of your poetry... wow! Kind of breaks my heart, but compells me to look anyway. Assuming it's your work, you really have a talent! Ta for your input, I shall look to that comma, ta. Hmmm, I will never know if it will be known, or loved, & really it doesn't matter in a way, I kind of like the idea that love can float about & reach someone despite their knowing... or just be added to the general well being of the world maybe. I think I am one who might be interpreted (wrongly) by the quote at the bottom of your page, I can't deal with horror well at all, but it isn't because I want to pretend bad things don't happen, it's because I KNOW they do & have been too close to them too many times, so wherever I can I dwell in kinder places... Doesn't mean I have a problem with anyone who is fond of horror. Anni,

I love the mystery of love within the mind and colors flying all around imagery that is only known from deep inside the lovers soul. How beautiful you describe all like dancing in a spring meadow while creatures sing, their lullaby's of love Congrats on the spotlight and thank you for sharing with us this poetic master piece. This is the way to write of love. thanks, Eddie

Thanks Eduardo, this is a beautiful comment, you have responded with such a lovely write yourself here, that always inspires me, thank you, I feel honoured. I do think that there are MANY ways to write of love (but I know what you mean)... this love is such a gentle, whimsical, non covetting love, a pleasure to share in truth. Glad you enjoyed. Oh soft, soft as a dandelion

The feel of a dandelion is not illusion, and the sensations one has when in love are not illusion, they are real, they colour the illusions of the mind, enhance their sensitivities and find ways of making what is unreal real, such is love, such is devotion such is life’s elixir and finally, meaning, is it not? You dear spinner of words spin on in your world ,whether it be real or illusion, for you take us with you into your clouds, saffron edged by the crocus of Autumn, which has that most wonderful violet colour with those stunning orange-red stamens, and if they aren’t the most potent love potion, then nothing is! Love from your friend Anushka

it is a love of appreciation, with a hint of the longing such in

My precious Anushka, how I love your words, & your lovely smile always warms me.. I wrote this ode on such a whim Ann, I feared people might think it a lustful, desirous thing, it isn't, it is a love of appreciation, with a hint of the longing such inspiration can bring, the longing to share in that thing that draws you, in this case the depth & imagery the writer is able to pull into their words. Love for a stranger really, who will never know, possibly never read, & most likely never guess even if they do, that's how I put it out there, & that's why I say illusion, since truly who could know the intent of that person, it is merely a guess I form into a more tangeable sense, & then gradually love grows around this. I am sure you have known this process in your time, I think most of us have. Much love to you dear one. it is actually a shy kind of write if you know what I mean

Hi Katie, thanks, lovely to see you there with the sky/clouds, trees & lake? behind you. Poems are funny things, I never know what is going to move people, I still so surprised at this, it was such a quiet light baby when it came out, no fanfare, I thought it would sit quietly in my pages not attracting any attention, & it flipped straight to spotlight, but it is actually a shy kind of write if you know what I mean. Ta for dropping in, hope the novel is flowing smoothly. I say (to anyone), own it if you think it is you, it possibly is

Feel free to guess, it is amusing & warming whatever the guesses may be... I must say though, it will remain a mystery, it should be, little will-o-the-whisp write this one, it deserves to be allowed to float without tether, I suspect it is unlikely to be the guesses most would make. I say (to anyone), own it if you think it is you, it possibly is in some way at least! Mystery Ode

You belong to all of us. That is the way I will interpet this work of love. So gentle, [in the words of the Queen] Like the floating of a gentle seed, tumbling over the fertile soil here at Neo, it will take root where it will. You are right to say that we should all take it for our own, because that is what we do. I too am so glad for your return. Congrats, and as for contests, you compete by your exellence. Gee.~ Now off to create some horror!

Gorgeous Gee, you are a treat, thank you for such lovely kind & warming words... ahhh, I love the company here! Yes please do, in the words of the great Jimi Hendrix ..."It's alright, she says - Take anything you want from me" "Well, she's walking through the clouds (Yay!!) with a circus mind - that's running wild Butterflies and zebras and moonbeams- and fairy tales That's all she ever thinks about... Riding with the wind When I'm sad she comes to me with a thousand smiles - she gives to me free It's alright, she says, - it's alright Take anything you want from me, - anything Fly on, little wing" Competition... nahhhh rather avoid it at any cost if possible, don't enjoy it, leave it to those who do... but thanks for the compliment... what's with the horror... hard to keep up around here? xxx Cheers Anni~ ` "Those who dwell among the beauties & mysteries of the earth are never alone or weary of life" ~ Rachel Carson Writer/conservationist

Horror was a challenge of sorts

The horror was a challenge of sorts, and it came at the right time. I was in really a pissy mood, and needed to express some type of vengeful act. There is certainly enough around here to keep anyone busy. Just reading and commenting on friends and lonely poems, is practically an all day job. Listened to 'Counting Crows' today for first time in ages, and your quotes from 'Hendricks' reminded me of them. Take a listen if you haven't heard of them before. Kinda a soulful band but extremely good. Keep up the great work, ~Gee.

I do hope your frustration was calmed by the horror write, it mu

Yes, I found the horror write... heavy stuff but the writing is good, I've never been great with horror, avoid it when I can, enough of it in the world without seeking it intentionally, but that's just me, been through too much maybe, made me prefer gentleness & peace when possible... Yes I really like Counting Crows, the only one still on my computer is "Colourblind", Mournful more than soulful, but I know what you mean, I must dig them out again... I hardly get time to just listen to what I want, because most of the time I am learning new repertoir or disecting stuff for students or creating stuff or arranging for the choir & workshops I run, so there's always music, but mostly stuff I am "working" on... not complaining, I love it so much. We just got funding for the new CD for my choir so I have to arrange & record all the parts, already wrote quite a few songs for it, (they decided on a water theme). My voice has finally recovered from that awful spate of viruses I had all May & much of June, took a bit of a beating... Could hardly work... now I am frantically trying to catch up on every level, makes finding Neo time very difficult (yes, it's time consuming to catch up & stay in touch here & new ones too)... have been naughty today, neglecting work & housework, but we all need a little down time. Waffling, it's late. I do hope your frustration was calmed by the horror write, it must have been good therapy...
