Rains of Scattered Yesterday (From Chat)

Rains of Scattered Yesterday

I sit beneath the candlelight in this musty room
bleary eyes burning from tears ever-present
The years have not taken the edge of loss
from this shattered heart;
how long, a night -a thousand years?
I've lost track
A million times I've cursed myself
A million times I've tried to die
Why did I listen - why did I choose?
If I could do it over
I'd shoot the bastard!
Instead, I took his gift,
immortality,  a boon I thought,
but that was 1216.
I''ve lost track of things
All I have left is
rains of scattered yesterday.

As you can see, the mind works oddly at times with certain titles without poems. Not only has this poem resulted, but I am also writing a story called "The Man Who Couldn't Die" based on this. Chapter one is posted here right now.

Thank you Boni

I am very pleased that you found it enjoyable. Titles without poems in chat are very interesting. They throw out a title and everyone writes a poem with what the title inspires in them. A while back, a challenge was issued to write what you would see from the window of a car driving down the road and it resulted in a novel. It is being submitted to various places, but has not been picked up by anyone as of yet. This one has inspired a short story that I haven't finished, but am having fun with. Thanks so much for reading. Respectfully, Rett: "At twenty, if you are not a liberal, you have no heart. At thirty, if you are not a conservative, you have no brain." Winston Churchill

This reminds me

Of the vampire Louis in "Interview With The Vampire." (a book) by Anne Rice. I don't know if you are familiar with it or not. I found this piece appetizing as it held my interest and stimulated my imagination. I have no criticisms, but I am sure you will probably be changing the lines here and there. I will look for the changes. Always, Cat

Thank you Cat

Yes, I am familiar with both the book and the movie. I really liked them. I am very pleased that you enjoyed it and yes, I will probably make changes along the way. Nothing I have written has ever escaped unscathed and most likely never will. *LOL* Here is a little preview of a moment in the story I'm writing and he isn't a vampire. *LOL* "Do you understand what agony is - not just torture, but pure, unadulterated agony? How would you like to be burned at the stake as a sorcerer, then find your virtually fleshless body buried alive. Do you know what it is like to dig yourself out of a grave” To dig and die, only to wake up again hours later, then repeat the process until you reach the surface?" I didn't even think of your age. Second line hyphenated word- Why yes m'am, I do believe you are correct and I thank you for pointing that out. *bowing most eloquently* Try not to read the cursing. although you are centuries old, you are a centuries old teen.. *L* Gotcha.
