Lunden: "Oh, no!"

Lunden:
"Oh, no!"

::

[she knows] how to live,
calmly, reticently yet gaily,
and sometimes with abandon

                                       ---A. Bennett
::

I drop my plastic
drinking cup to ground

and

watch its water stain
the dust.

"Oh, no!" she says to
no one in

particular.

I trip across my
feet, then

recover.

Hand cupped over her
mouth in concerned

alarm,

she blurts, "Oh, no!" to
the morning air.

I drop her an un-
expected

compliment.

"Oh, no!" she cries with-
out a prior thought.

Which brings, of course, to
my sure lips a smile;

and

now I'm left to plan
my very next

surprise.

"Oh No"

Love that line, she must have picked it up somewhere. When do we get to see her? Always, Cat

Chuck,

children...isn't it a joy to surprise them? And they never fail to surprise us in turn. Just wait till she gets older... (My daughter is now almost nine and has recently informed me that I should FINALLY accept that she is quite self-sustaining and independent.) Yours, ~Nina

Children are special to me, and bring the most smiles [and surprises] to families. This is so special Chuck, thanks for sharing~ ______________________________________________________ Income-tax forms should be more realistic by allowing the taxpayer to list "Uncle Sam" as a dependent Anonymous
