One Poet's Submission

Let's put all of the poets
all neat in a nice hand basket;
they'll all go to hell
quite unable to tell,
if it's a box or a wooden casket.

And God forbid that these poets
would truly speak of their voice;
they have to pretend
that it's just the end,
of their right to a freedom of choice.

There have been discussions and comments
pointing out all the differences, of late.
If you say what you feel
the best poets won't squeal,
less they're tricked into thinking they're great.

If one's not honest, there's a disservice,
for the true poet may  never learn;
if the constructive help,
only causes a grand "yelp",
then that poet doesn't deserve the "burn".

This site is a damn good example
for better poets one may never find,
they all seem to care
and that's something so rare;
it's so friendly, once you have signed.

I do have one tiny suggestion
if you can mingle with everyone here;
you'll benefit from style
that'll help all the while,
and you'll have growth with nothing to fear.

So let's have no blatantly blank stares
when all one has written is crap,
keep calm, if you will
which will keep things tranquil,
so you cannot fall into this trap.

Finally, what brings us together
is the fact that us writers all need;
our work etched in stone
so that when we're alone,
we'll be happy that someone did read.

Worry not about all of the feedback
that'll be subjective, at best.
Let them say what they will
you'll surely get your fill,
just keep your cards close to the vest.

Bottom line, if you're on Neopoet
and your wish is, "your poetry won't stink"...
just shut both your eyes
and brace for the surprise,
you're not nearly as important as you think.

I know....

...in my heart of hearts, that I almost ALWAYS use too much puntuation.....but, in my little mind, I feel like I'm helping the reader see how I want it read, when really it's 'nuff said. I promise to work on that, if you'll let me "slide" this one time. Lol ! Sincerely, thanx for the comment. "Write On"! #{:>{)}@==== docmaverick.

It IS true....

...that these different sites have a collective personality of their own. Kudos to the calibre of people making up THIS personality ! If we were graded, "on the curve"...we'd be way ahead of the game !Lol ! I sincerely thank you for your comment. "Write On"! #{:>{)}@==== docmaverick.

Doc

Its no surprise to me ... But the real surprise is in the hearts of so many beautiful people here at Neopoet ... the real beauty isnt just the poetry its what gets created in friendships and poetry THAT stems from those friendships that I have found to be the most profound moments ... Mere words cant describe the people that are here working in the background making this place so special ... cause it is ... Love Jayne x P.S I loved the poem lol (hug)
