rainbow counting (inspired by Leonard)

there is a gift
in counting rainbows
though
no one
ever does,

there are
many fools
who search
for the pot of gold
under the Maid o'  the Mist
hands wet with indecision
and tongues dry with longing

underneath it all
there is impeccable bliss
and no one counts on it
even if it appears
suddenly
after all that rain,

and the sky breaks with light.

My little butterfly, where do you find these images? I am lost in admiration. We Neanderthals cannot compete, but can enjoy. Well Done Much Love Ian T

I’ve always loved

I've always loved Neanderthals... even married one... though, unlike your marriage... ours was on and off...mostly off... but we're-almost-friends now. Hmmm. that sounds like the beginnings of a poem, and Ode to Him, the man I should never have married. Hugs, my hatted-neanderthal... you really should have a tam... ~A "It is unwise to be too sure of one's own wisdom. Anna - This is an amazing write

I feel absolutely honoured that I should have inspired it. Your soul bursts with the most amazing and magical images and your pen does justice in giving them form. I love the reference to the Maid of the Mist - reminds me of my trip to Niagra and: hands wet with indecision and tongues dry with longing this is deep cutting edge stuff that makes the reader feel a little uncomfortable. With: underneath it all there is impeccable bliss and no one counts on it even if it appears suddenly after all that rain, and the sky breaks with light You hit upon something which I really believe in. There isn't enough nowness in us to appreciate the power of the moment. There is indeed impeccable bliss which, even when it appears, we are blissfully unaware of becuase we are so externally focussed. I also like the way you have seperated the last line, giving the reader a chance to take in and digest the preceeding lines before his eyes rest it. A great profound write indeed. Thanks once again ... Leonard

a beautiful gift

A This poem is a beautiful gift for Leonard and to all of us who read and are transported into a different world, a world within us perhaps! Love the reference to the Maid of the mist ... hmmm Counting rainbows is a gift indeed, even by those who are rendered speechless by its beauty. Cheers T

I love this poem, especially because of the quality of your images in the last verse and last line, delicate and almost transparent. What a lovely experience! Thank you! -Celadon

Though ...

I've never been to Niagara Falls, I've seen plenty of pics. Although I'm sure they don't do her justice. Nice, clean write. Good vocab. I esp. like the last line: and the sky breaks with light As usual, you are brilliant. Oops! Sorry. I didn't mean to flatter, something I know's unbecoming for at least some of us. Regards, Chuck
