Resurrection

No more do we meet on the everyday,
But when we do I see you looking down
As if you were talking to the ground,

Your Words now are few and fade at the very end,
With no chance of flying round,
A thought passes through my brain,
Is it the grave that drags you down?

You no longer talk to those upon the earth,
all you do and say is directed to the grave,
The sun shines pale through the mist,
Rising from the cold burial you have found.

The young flowers no longer giggle,
Their little roots do not drink
Of the sustenance you would bring,

The eyes no longer see the spring,
Only the decay that autumn rings
Fields of daffodils are no more,
They have withered to the ground,

The space between the clouds.
Where the sun comes shining through,
Not even the smallest of these things,
Carries air underneath your wings

Look!
As winter flees,
You can see the buds that had had their end,
Now they sing the song of spring,

Why not let the one that has had their end,
Begin again inside of you,
For their end is not your end,
But a resurrection of something new!

Hey buddy,

I wrote this to my niece after the death of her mother, that really devastated her. She went so deep into herself, that it was as if she had died herself. I'm just glad she's better now, not all the way but better. Thanks for the high five!! Eddie "I control what I know, and what I don't know, I wait for advantage to come!"

"The young flowers no longer giggle, Their little roots do not drink Of the sustenance you would bring," And "Why not let the one that has had their end, Begin again inside of you, For their end is not your end, But a resurrection of something new!!" - are just plain outstanding stanzas. I really liked the positiveness you tried to bring about (successfully, I might add) with that final stanza. A quite sad and moving write. ~Jess K. ----------------------- "Why worry? There should be laughter after pain. There should be sunshine after rain. These things have always been the same. So why worry now?" - Dire Straits

Janice,

First let me say thanks for the "High Five", and thank you for reading! She is 28yrs old, and a intelligent child. The poem helped a little, but some things we have to do alone, and I understand. But if you go to deep in the mourning there is the possibility for it to become despair. Well that's what I told her after she read the poem. She said thank you for the concern, but trust me I'll be OK. At lease I planted a seed in her head, I hope? thanks Janice it's always a pleasure to hear from you! Eddie

such insight, perception

such insight, perception here. I hope your niece is doing better, now and continues to recover from this great loss in her life. My heart goes out to her. It is never easy to lose a parent, no matter what age we are at when we do. A very good write, Eddie. Always, Cat

I wish.....

Hi Eddie, I wish i could have read this after my Dad passed away recently. It is sad, yet tells of how one who is in a state of grieving truly does go deep within themselves, for the pain and heartache of a loss of a parent is such that you lose understanding of all that surrounds you on a daily basis. Please give your niece a message from me. The pain of missing will never go away, but does abate. Her Mom is with her, even now smiling down, and holding her hand through each of her long days. This was a very insightful and sad write, and one your niece truly needed and most likely still does. Thank you. Yours in script Jill Mistakes happen, do not dwell on them, live them, mourn them and move on to better things. (PS: if that does not work eat lots and lots of chocolate)

Sharon,

You are right, and these levels differ for each individual personalty. It's all a question of how major a role was played by the person who passed in their life. Thanks for reading, Eddie

Eddie

Sensible poem about a difficult subject. However, you have handled it quite successfully. I believe the seed is planted, anyway, so as to expect time and Nature will heal her for a brighter future. Sincerely, Hugo
