Don't forget the sausages

Pop down to the shops Son

I need some bits and bobs

Just a few potatoes

And a dozen crusty cobs

While you’re there, you might as well

Get carrots and some greens

Some frozen peas, some sugar

And a tin of Heinz baked beans

Some tea, I think we need some

Minced beef for shepherds pie

A pound of cheese, the Leicester

We’ll give that one a try

We haven’t got no biscuits

You know the ones I like

Only get two packets, mind

Be careful on your bike

When you get back I’ll do you

Bread and dripping for your tea

A slice of bread and scrape for you

And sausages for me

John

A light and airy read. Almost had a sing-song rhythm like a child's poem. The only place I cringed was at 'haven't got no', as it should be 'haven't got any... or haven't any', but that's just nit-picky me LOL! ~Jess K. ----------------------- "Why worry? There should be laughter after pain. There should be sunshine after rain. These things have always been the same. So why worry now?" - Dire Straits

hi Jess, glad you enjoyed

hi Jess, glad you enjoyed this. The "cringeworthy" line is there on purpose, it was going to be "aint not got no" but i thought that was a bit OTT, this is about a family who lived near us when I was a child, mother would speak in an upper class accent but occassionaly she would slip up, hence the line, the kids would do all the chores and have bread and jam for dinner, then, when they were in bed mum and dad would eat a 3 course meal. Thanks again for reading. Take care John

Thanks Davina I’m pleased

Thanks Davina I'm pleased that you enjoyed it, sorry to hear that you do not like shepherds pie, you obviously havent eaten one cooked by my wife, Ive got to admit I absolutely detested my first wifes cooking but when I met number 2 at the age of 50+ her cooking was a revelation and I now eat lots of things that I never would have, including shepherds pie. Take care John
