Painted Mask of Eloquence (from chat)

Painted Mask of Eloquence

"My dear, you are ravishing tonight.
Positively dashing jacket, sir.
Yes madam, I am familiar with Van Gogh.
Your coiffure is stunning, my lady.
Permit me to retire to the kitchen, madam.
I shall return presently with more champagne."
Alone in the kitchen, he cries...

Nicely Done

Nicely done writing about two people talking. I thought that was so cool. I like it also cause it is shor and to the point. Some of the best poems are not long. Great work my friend Rett. Keep up the wonderful works. You Friend, Pixee

Thanks Pixee

I honestly appreciate it my friend. Very happy you liked it. Respectfully, Rett: "At twenty, if you are not a liberal, you have no heart. At thirty, if you are not a conservative, you have no brain." Winston Churchill

Rett,

In so few words a whole world is reviled. the hard lesson of pretense, living in a world that is plastic, that under the light of truth will melt, causing the destruction of a mind!! What a marvelous write, that leads to so much thought of the world around us. I truly loved this!! Thank you Sir Rett for sharing this work!!! Eddie

Eddie, thanks so much!

You nailed it dead center. It is pretending to be what you are not that can destroy a person. Something politicians, rich people, poor people and middle class the world over should pay attention to. Thank you for "getting it!" Respectfully, Rett: "At twenty, if you are not a liberal, you have no heart. At thirty, if you are not a conservative, you have no brain." Winston Churchill

Wow

The games that people play are very destructive. (I too, wrote a poem about this once, but was far less subtle.) Very good writing! Always, Cat

Thanks so much Cat

From as fine a poet as you, that means a lot. Fortunately, I leaned in my late teens to just be me, warts and all. *LOL* I am very happy you enjoyed this one. Rett,

I like that. Have you read Leonard's poem "Excuse me while I die"? I think you have a theme in common here. Please do add commas before "my lady" and "madam". Yours, ~Nina

Thanks Nina, I appreciate it.

Good grief, I can't believe I forgot that! Thanks so much! Will fix it right now! Yes, I've read his poem. I do believe you're correct there also. Cool. a subtle gentility

Very nicely done! Quite different and has a smooth feel and good flow. I can hear the voice in my head (not crazy voices!), the tone, the intonation. We encounter so many masks every day and often even, without intention, wear our own. We keep our private hells hidden. It "almost" seems too simple, and I love it.

Rett, I picked a random page

Rett, I picked a random page in the stream (99 I think lol) and this little beauty jumped out :) A great poem Rett, you can sort of sense the falseness in the first few lines but it's that last line, 'Alone in the kitchen, he cries', that packs the punch, it's extremely emotive, it reached in my gut and gave it a twist, loved the poem Rett, great job, much love Beki x
